My boyfriend was approached by a seller who had this ring for under 10K - what do you think of it? Please note it is certified by EGL.

Weight: 2.01
Shape: Round Brilliant
Measurements 7.86-7.76 x 5.16

Total Depth: 66.1%
Table Width: 58%
Crown Height 15%
Pavilion Depth: 45%
Girdle Thickness: Slightly Thick, Faceted

Polish: Very Good
Symmetry: Good
Culet: None

Color G
Clarity SI2
 
Much too deep.

Sometimes what seems like a bargain can actually cost more........

In addition to the depth, the EGL report is notoriously inaccurate- so the diamond in all likelihood could be an I1.
 
From my own personal experiences with EGL certs. they grade diamonds on a very soft curve. If I had to guess without looking at the stone, I''d say GIA would probably grade it as an H I1. Make sure you see the stone first

YUCK! Run away, its a horrible cut.

It is also deep like a peg, it won't look like 2 carats.
 
Thank you very much. I will look into that diamond today. Apparently I can only find leaky diamonds :)

And don''t feel bad, there''s a lot to learn about diamonds. They''re tricky lil buggers.

Having said that, the angles on this could cause a slight bit of leakage, but just how much remains to be seen. A small amount can exist, and yet not really be detectable to the eye. So not "every" leaky diamond is bad!
