I am not a cushion expert, but I think it is just a beautiful stone. Wowza!
 
Yummy looking cushion. Per some of the recent posts with feather inclusions, I'd just ask Jonathan to make sure that the feather won't pose any structural problems if the stone gets bonked and that it's eyeclean (if that's important to you). Other than that, it looks like a beauty

Pixley~ They did a video of the stone for me and nothing was visible, and he swears you can''t see anything. I will have to ask him about any sort of structural problem it may pose...

Scarlet~ We are going up on Thursday and I will see it in person on Friday... I''ll keep you posted! I''m starting to get excited!

Bebe~ Believe it or not the cert says that the culet is slightly large

... I held the stone without even seeing the cert, all I had seen was the video, and we fell in love with it... After I received that link and saw what the GIA said about the culet I freaked!!! I called him up and he assured me that it is not visible to the eye... We''ll see, bc I have a very picky eye!

Anyone have any amazing cushion settings that they want to share??? It''s getting down to the wire here and I am so nervous bc I am not sure yet about the setting. We are meeting Leon on Monday to figure it all out, but I would love to have a solid idea... Halo or no halo.... East-West... Upside down.... whatever... Any suggestion would be very appreciated!
 
Bebe... Here''s a better pic where you can see the culet. I would never have described it by its pics to have a slightly large culet, but I guess I will have to see in person. One of my main requirements is a very small culet... Let me know what you think!

CR - Regarding the s.l. culet - you'll probably be too blinded by all the fire and sparkle to even see the culet. If it were noted as a large culet, it may be more noticeable but the s.l. culets never seem to be too obtrusive from the cushion owners that have them on PS.

As for settings, Leon will steer you in the right direction. I don't know that a 3+ cushion ever really needs a halo, but you may love the added bling of one. I love big cushions with a single row of micropave along the shank like Silverlily's Ritani (which also has micropave on the basket) and Tiger007g's Leon Mege, but Leon will be able to tell you whether it wants to be a NS or EW stone

The culet is perfect...it makes it look like an antique stone! And you don''t need to worry about VS2 inclusions! Jonathan is really going well picking cushions these days!

If it were mine, I''d set it just like Boston Jeff''s! I think it needs to go NS because of it''s size.
 
my stone has a med. culet and i can''t see it all. I really don''t think the s.l. will be a problem in the slightest.

as for the setting...well i love cushions in halo''s (obviously) but i think once you get to leon''s and can meet with him, he''ll be able to give you some good direction as to what would work with your stone etc.
 
I don''t have much to add since you and I have discussed your stones TO DEATH! I think you really need to just wait to see the ones you have lined up in person before you make any judgments (as far as culet, etc.). OH, and DO NOT FORGET YOUR CAMERA!!!

Pixley~ That''s my hope... so much sparkle that we wouln''t be able to see any culet!! And yes I know that a 3ct doesn''t need a halo... but I''m certainly not one to turn down more bling and the appearance of an even larger stone!! LOL! I am still debating about the width of the band on the ring. I am normally a fan of slightly thicker bands, but I am also considering doing a very thin one with 2 matching bands... but I know Leon wouln''t like that... we''ll have to see... And I agree that the stone will probably speak to Leon as far as how it wants to be set... He told me that once he has a stone in hand the ideas come to him... whatever work for him!

DS~ I can''t remember if he said it was an antique stone or a new stone cut to look antique... I don''t really care either way, but I know I love the look of those big chunky facets! I am thinking a NS will work best too, espicially bc of its ratio... 1:13 I think.
I too love Boston Jeff''s setting....If only I could be more noraml... But I am far to out there to be so traditional... It''s gotta be totally different!! I am actually really liking Jessica Alba''s ring... Halo''d but it is set up from the halo.... so pretty, but it is rumored to be a 4ct... so not sure if it would work with this one, we''ll have to see. I also love the one from the trip to Joe Escobar that Mara posted a ways back! To die for!

Scarlet~ I am going to see that other stone first! They are very different, and have a big price difference too, but we are going prepared for either... I am leaning towards this particular one, and probably mostly bc I have seen video and so many great pics! I will keep you posted. I am sure either one will be fantastic! OH... and I am not leaving Leon''s office til I feel 110% sure of my decision, so I hope that what I have read about him only giving you a half hour to meet with him isn''t true bc I may need all day!

Ok, so if you must halo that baby, MrsS's Daniel K and that Joe Escobar setting are hands down, drop-dead gorgeous ways to halo a rectangular cushion. You MUST come back with a full report after your Leon visit.

Update: We went up to NYC and drove out to Long Island too see this stone in person. It was a beautiful stone!!! And when it was described as the "inbetween" look in the other thread, that was a dead on way to put it. UNfortunately I was thinking it would be chunkier. I told the bf that this was a great stone and I would be lucky to have it, but he wanted me to be over the moon about it, as well as himself, and it didn''t happen. Jon did mention that someone else was very interested in it, but I don''t know if it is still available or not...

Are you an anti-culite? Culets rock. Nothing wrong with a culet of any size. Gives you that antiquey look.
