My jeweler has been working on several projects for me repurposing pieces I no longer wear. I picked up a 5 stone ring preloved about 2 years ago but it was in white gold and I prefer platinum. Through a family jeweler, I had it reset into platinum but I felt the diamonds were set too close together. It was an experiment with 3D printing but I just didn’t like the end result. It has been sitting in my jewelry box for a year and I thought it would be better to do something new with it.
Old 5 stone:
Last summer, I also picked up ( .25 carat violet blue sapphires from a lapidary that has done several gemstone projects for me now.
I wanted to make a station necklace but in a more sprinkled design using the 8 sapphires, the (5).25 diamonds and I had a pair or .30 carat earring that I never wore from many years ago. They were all in the same near colorless range.
I laid out the stones on some paper because I wanted all the stations forward of my shoulders because I have long hair and I would not be doubling it. I have a few shorter diamond necklaces and I like to wear the two together.
There are 15 stations in total and each station is around .25 carats (4 mm) in a 36 inch white gold necklace. The color is great to wear with jeans and my aqua in my Avatar.
Here it is! I saved quite a bit of money reusing what I had and mixing it with gemstones. Yes, it does flip a bit but it doesn’t bother me and the stones do not poke me from the other side.
