I'm looking for a fairly cheap (~<$1000ish) 30th birthday gift.

Preferably a nice (well, for my low budget anyway) ring or a bracelet.

Earrings might be ok since I don't have any real earrings, though I don't like "screw back" earrings. I love James Avery silver rings, too, but want something a bit more "substantial" for a milestone birthday. Always wanted a Mikimoto necklace. Or a diamond ring or pendant.

What would you buy for a 30th birthday with only around $1000?

Beautiful pearl earrings might be a worthwhile choice ::)

Oops, I mean pearl and diamond earrings of course!! My bad!

Eternity, or 3/4, could be good. I find ten pointers make the perfect 3/4 band but not sure how that works with your budget...?

Eta: motownmama has an AWESOME stacker collection! It is bound to inspire you!

I had my 30th birthday a few weeks ago and my budget was about the same as yours.
I found a pre-loved Chopard ring on eBay from a fairly local estate jeweler (GREAT customer service) and got it for 15% of (of, not OFF!!!) current retail. I then took it to Chopard to get it resized and repolished. They verified the authenticity.
Everything came out to be a little over $1,100. The ring looks NEW after the "spa". No one would think it's a pre-loved item.
I wanted to get myself a high end piece (without the price tag) for such a significant birthday. If you feel with comfortable with eBay, give it a try! I was looking for some pre-loved Tiffany pieces but I was less confident in picking an authentic one.

Here's a picture of my Chopard

A couple ideas: a pair of .50 ctw diamond stud earrings.

Or another would be a diamond pendant weighing .30 to signify your turning 30.

Both you could find within your budget.

I would buy an eternity stacker from IDJ. Here's the link: http://idjewelryonline.com/index.php?cPath=53_137
You might even be able to get two for your budget if depending on what you choose.

Happy Birthday!

I love the idea of an eternity stacker. And IDJ has great pricing.

For giggles though I would check out Dover jewelry, the pre-love forum, Jewels by Erica Grace and Lang just to see what they have out there. Most of the stuff will be over 1k but occasionally you see some great things under that marker.

.30 to signify 30 is a cute idea. I'm in the market for a diamond ring now... got a sterling silver everyday one, but want a cocktail ring.

I'd go for a pearl strand or pearl earrings as you can get a statement gift for $1k. There are other options besides Mikimoto to get amazing pearls.
