Hi all, I have been lurking around pricescope for some time, admiring the gorgeous stones belonging to you girls. To my surprise & after a serious health drama, now settled, plus 30 years of marriage my DH wants me to purchase my dream diamond to mark the second stage of our lives together. I am looking for an exceptional stone around 1.7 carats of high colour, ideal H & A sparkle & fire to die for.
I have narrowed down my search so far to these two stones, but, as I am an aussie I will be purchasing sight unseen so would really value any opinions or assistance any of you cut queens could throw my way.

First stone is from GOG. I was planning on sticking with an AGS000 stone due to the stricter grading however Jonathan advises that this stone is exceptional.

The second stone is from Brian Gavin & is AGS 000 signature H & A.

Please let me know if there is any further info I can provide. I really appreciate any assistance with this exciting decision.

is the GOG stone in budget? there is a large price difference between the two

DH said we could go slightly over budget for the right stone, I just want to make sure I get all the sparkle & fire I can for my money.

Just realised the price listed for the GOG stone is not what GOG have offered it to me for. If I purchase this week It is under $32,000. The BG stone still works out cheaper with the pricescope discount, but don't want to pass up a spectacular stone either.. Any suggestions ?

I think D's are special. But in this case I would go for the BGD stone. It's a stunning diamond, G color and the savings is good amount even with the GOG discount. But that's me and I consider 4k a good amount of money to save. But you can't go wrong. Either stone is amazing.

Both those stones look really beautiful, but I like the Brian Gavin 1.74 G, the best. Can't wait to see what your final choice is. Glad your health drama is over, and Congrats on 30 years of marriage!!!. :appl:

Thanks Gypsy & Hearts-Arrows girl.... I am swayed by the D but agree $4,000 is $4,000..... I would happily pay the extra though in a heartbeat if there was a noticable difference in optics between the stones..... I guess you are saying that there would not be. The question is I guess - is having a D stone worth the extra ?

thanks also for the kind wishes hearts-arrow girl... Yes surviving 30 years these days is sure a mile stone.. i met my DH when I was 16 & told my friends that night that this was the man I was going to marry.... 33 years later, even though we have had our ups & downs we remain best friends & he is still the love of my life.

anyone else have any suggestions ? ie purchase one of these two stones, keep searching or anystone you think would be better ?

I have a D and a G, and I can see the difference. Not that the G is "yellow" by any means, but I can see the difference. I think at that size you will be more likely to see a difference as well. Have you seen stones this color at that size in person?

OK, I don't know that much about diamonds yet
(but I'm trying to learn!)

But what I do know about myself even at this stage of the game
is that I am a color snob.

For me, it's the whitest one all the way.

What do you feel about that?

(oh, and edited to add, congratulations on
your 30-plus years of marriage !!!
you can celebrate in good health !!!!! )

Have you seen these colors in person? Do you know if you prefer icy white or is G plenty white to you? If it were me, I'd probably go for the GOG stone for $4K more because I love icy white stones. However, G colored stones are plenty white and might be perfect for you. Its really a matter of personal preference but you really can't go wrong with either stone.

Congrats on 30 years of marriage and in your renewed good health!! Both stones are lovely. I have an E now and have had an I as well. Side by side, I can see a difference, but on my hand, on their own, I really can't. I am probably not the most color sensitive person out there though. My advice is to go look at some stones (AGS or GIA) and see what you think. Try to get as close in size as you can, since it will make a difference in how you perceive the color.

For me, I'd put the extra $4K towards the setting of my dreams!
