So I''ve been thinking about a regent stone...

I was curious as to what the best 3 stone setting might be...

I''ve been looking at the Vatche settings...
but I''m not sure if I''d be better off going with round side stones or princess

I feel like round side stones would make the Regent look too round... taking away from its beauty...

I''ve never seen it though...

opinions???
thanks

Most of the regents I see look "roundish" more than really square. Because of that, I would think that if you want to use a regent in a 3 stone ring, they should all be regents. (I'm assuming the side stones would be a reasonable size, not super small.) I'd be worried that if you used rounds with a regent, it might just look kind of "off" -- there wouldn't be enough contrast in the shapes to set them off against each other.

I don't know a lot about setting choices, so others will probably chime in with good info there.

thats a good point... I never thought of doing all 3 stones regent...

though I can imagine it will be difficult finding the 2 side stones...

interesting... thanks for the suggestion

Hi I have a Regent set in a Vatche truffle...with sapphire side stones...

I was up in the air about whether or not to use rounds or more baguette or princess (square)...I don't like princess...and ended up going wiht rounds...

I love the look...and don't think the round sapphires make the Regent look too round...but then again I have sapphires as my sides...so there is significant contrast...which helps

So I thought of Regent sides...that would look cool...

The information I have from the cutter...is that the smallest Regent they will cut is .20...

That may work with your plans...and it could be done...although I suspect it will take a while to get well mathced REgents for your sides...

Would you condider colored sides...they do make a great contrast

I will post pics (better than my avatar) for you

I forgot you had a regent in the center of your ring Diane, and it looks great! So...I might be completly wrong, and you'll just have to ignore my comments.

I guess the issue is how to get a combination that has enough contrast to not make it look like they just don't match, whether it is with size or color or both. I do like the idea of 3 regents tho.....

Thanks LOP...In my opinion...round diamond may make a center Regent look more roundish...since there woulb be little contrast...that too would depend on the size of the center and ratio of that to sides...I don't know that Regent sides will alleviate the contrast issue but again that will depend on the size of the stones...I think the ration would need to be high...bigger center smaller sides...I would look at differnt cominations unset...to see what appeals most to you...

Personally I like the contrast color gives

I would love to see a Regent 3-stone with side diamonds...I will see what I can do...

Diane, I always thought your setting was yellow gold until tonight. Your avatar has a gold hue to it!

I love Diane's 3 stone (obviously, since I kind of copied it) and I agree that the round sapphires add a nice contrast to the Regent. I would not put round diamonds next to the Regent. I think it would dilute the uniqeness of the Regent shape.

I like the idea of baguette sides.

HI Patty...I know the avatar has a yellowish tone...

I think you setting will look good with a Regent center as well

Thanks
