3 Stone Ring - What To Go With an Oval?

Hi all,

I would like your opinion. If you would like to set a Fancy Yellow Oval into a three stone ring, what side stones will you choose?

Traps?
Pears?
Rounds?
Half-Moons?
Tapered Baguettes?
Shields?
Marquises?
Trillions?

Any pictures you can post will be most appreciated.. Thank you!

My BF''s engagement ring is an oval with pear sides and I think it''s the prettiest combo I''ve seen. So that would have to be my vote!

Most likely it would be half moons providing they were significantly smaller than the oval (I wouldn''t want it like a large 4 petal flower).

I think step traps look amazing with yellow centers but not so sure about the center being an oval... I love them with radiants.

shields or half moons will show off the length and shape of the stone,while other longated shapes on the sides will fight for attention and draw the focus away from the center stone.

I prefer either cushions or ovals as I don''t prefer the frozen look found in the fancy yellow radiants..

Hi Diamondfan, I don''t mind the step cut next to a non-step cut.. if I am not mistaken, I think my jeweler has half moons that are in step cuts..

Thanks Treysar for the pictures and thanks ladies for the suggestions. I have managed to find a couple of other pictures in other threads.

Ok, in the running now and in no particular order: pears, half moons and ovals. What size side stones in these shapes will create the best look for a 2.75ct fancy light yellow measuring 10.00 X 6.84 X 4.80?

I am still not 100% decided about the centre oval stone, but leaning a lot towards it as compared to other fancy yellows I saw. So the design as well as the total cost of the ring will have an impact on the decision of the centre stone too.
