This is based on the show "Survivor". I know they are allowed to bring a few personal toiletries....I don''t know how many, but let me just say 3.

So, if you knew you''d be on an deserted island for at least 30 days, what would you bring?

I''d bring:

Toilet paper (enough to last 30 days...I hate to ration)
Shampoo (& Conditioner 2in1....''cos I can''t deal with stinky oily scalp
Listerine mouthwash. Cannot sleep without some sort of dental hygiene.

Is it bad that the only toiletry I can think of is my Aquaphor? I'd bring as many tubes of it as they'd allow!

Sunblock, toilet paper and toothpaste (toothbrush and floss if it didn't count as an extra otherwise just toothpaste).

Only problem is I want to bring shampoo and conditioner too...if I let you borrow my sunblock could I borrow your shampoo/conditioner jaysonsmom?

That is my husband''s must have too.....I find them everywhere in his car, in his backpack, in practically every pair of pants, and on his nightstand...

How about we don''t go in the sun, that way you can bring a tooth brush, or better yet, a hair brush (that I can borrow)

Hahaha! You sound like my husband.
He just came in the house the other day and dropped about seven of the little tubes into my lap. He found them in his car, his backpack, tucked into the bag we bring to the doggy beach, and his office desk drawers.

I just don''t want to get stuck somewhere without a tube of Aquaphor! Is that a crime?!

I am very sensitive to the sun though and plus wouldn't we want to swim in the ocean and fun stuff like that? I mean, if we are on a desert island there may not be much to do inside LOL
Ooh, I just had a great idea...
Since Haven only needs aquaphor maybe she can bring a brush and extra shampoo/conditioner

Haven, what do you say?
I'll let you borrow my tp and toothpaste

The wipes are so clever! I''m surprised I didn''t think of that...I was queen of baby wipes when my kids were small, now I''m queen of clorox wipes!

I live in Hawaii.

I would bring:

1. rubbing alcohol
2. bandaids

In the tropics the last think you want is an infection and every time you cut yourself or get a blister it has to be taken care of immediately.

This leaves me with only one other choice. I''m going to have to say...

3. toothpaste

Sunblock for sure! Bug repellent. I''ve seen Survivor, I have friends who''ve been on the show, and I''ve seen the bug bites. And I''m a bug-magnet. Ugh.

And for my last, toothpaste.

Though Danny''s rubbing alcohol/bandaids is a good idea. How about a personal, custom-packed first-aid kit as one item, with said kit including sunblock, rubbing alcohol/antibiotic, and bandaids? And toothpaste, and bug repellent. And moisturizer.

I am just not cut out for this

Hmmm...I''d have to bring a tweezer, a zippo lighter, and tampons!

You''re going to be stuck on an island...that means plenty of water to wash up with...no need for paper products. ;) Believe it or not, you can actually rub mud or sand in your wet hair under water, and rinse it out (as long as there is fresh water around) and it will exfoliate the scalp, without removing a lot of the natural oils. No styling products means no buildup to worry about. Mud and sand makes a great body scrub. Primitive, but could survive. I presume there will be coconuts and other tropical fruits...those things can be used to help the hair.

No processed foods around means your breath is going to smell better, and salt water is a great gargle (as well as a natural antiseptic for cuts). A natural tooth brush can be made from chewing a piece of green wood so those issues are taken care of.

A tweezer will take care of many things, such as de-boning fish, splinters, stray hairs, etc. Zippo lighters are wind proof, and pretty durable. The tampons are self-explanitory. Gonna be there for a full 30 days, guaranteed someone is going to need ''em! :D

carmex - can''t live without it, seriously.
sunblock
excedrin migraine - i can deal with living on the island, i cannot deal with headaches AND living on an island.

:)

Man this is hard. I thought I had my choices set, but then I read other people''s choices and there are so many essentials!!!

Definitely Sunscreen - I''m really prone to sun rash and have melanoma in my family.

I need something for my teeth so I''m gonna say Listerine.

Third choice is really hard. I was set on 2in1 hair wash, but then I saw bug spray... I too am a bug magnet (typed as I scratch the countless fleabites currently on my legs) so I think I''ll wash my hair with sand and vote for the bug spray.

- My medications
- A huge blanket
- A book by Leo Tolstoy ("War and Peace")

From my prior interest in ancient history, I know how to wash without soap - hopefully, there will be rocks on an island; or sand; you can brush your teeth with a young branch of a tree (chew it first)
A blanket can also be used for protection against the sun

Is it allowable to take a person? I''d take Vapid Lapid who has this knack of making most unusual things of unusual materials. He (she?) - sorry, I still have not figured out the gender - will be the greatest candidate for "Survivor"

I''ll have to ditto all of this, sounds like a great explanation to me!

I still use baby wipes on my kids and they''re in elementary school. I hate greasy fingers and faces so if we''re in the car eating they always are given a couple wipes.

We're alone on this island, right? Or are we with others?

Alone:

- Sunscreen with bug repellant (

)
- A huge book
- Xanax

With others:

- Baby Wipes
- Sunscreen with bug repellant
- Listerine

A satellite phone so I can call someone to get me the hell off that island

A bottle of wine to drink while I wait for them

A second bottle of wine in case they take a long time to get there

three items eh
27.gif

1. a pre packaged unopened pack of 36 rolls of toilet paper.

2. I toothbrush with built in toothpaste combo

3.bug spray

IF, noone would come get me (ie a satellite phone would be useless) and I was trying to survive (not just read my book until I was rescued) and assuming I have my clothes and sources of fresh water...

1. waterproof sunblock with bug repellant (the biggest case of it I could find!)
2. leatherman/multipurpose tool that includes knife, scissors, tweezers, nail clippers... OR a machete if it''s dangerous and/or coconuts would be my main food source
3. a good lighter

Winks_Elf, I like it! So..

-Tampons
-A good lighter
- Hmm. Does FI count as a personal item?

Chapstick! (can''t leave the house without chapstick)

Bug repellant

Excedrine

Oh, good. I get to have a first aid kit and count it as one item!

Now I can bring that toilet paper I was longing to take.
