My boyfriend and I have started talking about the ring we would like to get, and we have a shopping trip planned on Spring Break (

). We want to check out local jewelers first and compare prices/quality, but I''ve seen a lot of great deals that can be found online thanks to PS, and I want to keep that option open in case what we find is too expensive/not very good quality.

I''ve asked my boyfriend for his budget, and he says he doesn''t care about the price. I''ve very touched, but also a little concerned because his job situation isn''t very stable and money doesn''t abound. So, I''ve decided to set a budget to myself, and since I want a three-stone ring, 1 ctw maximum, I''m looking for three beautiful ACA or ideal cut stones for 2K CAD and less, and I would appreciate your suggestions!

For the setting, I''m very fond of this one:

I''d probably see if I can have it made in two-tone gold.

Thanks for your help!

Hmmm, I really like that design

. It''s going to look great.

Depending on the ratio of stone sizes you should be fine. Getting a center any larger than 0.60 may challenge the budget depending on what you want for color and clarity. You probably already know this, but figure around $1500 give or take for the custom ring in platinum.

Good luck

Hey anchor,

When you say 2000$ with the exchange rate, you''re looking at about $1700 USD for the stones. Does you''re budget include the setting? It might be a bit difficult if you are looking for a platiunum setting with 1700$ for the whole thing, give us some more details on your criteria if you can.

And congrats of course!

Ally - No, the 2K CAD doesn''t include the setting. I''m also not thinking about platinum, but two-tone gold (yellow gold shank and white gold head) if possible.

Hest88 and noobie - Thanks for the advice!

Those are beautiful stones Ebree! Right now I''m trying to take a look at every possibility, I guess I''ll see on our shopping trip if I prefer more equal sized stone or a larger center stone with smaller sidestones.

Since the setting will allow to see through the sides of the diamonds, I''m a little concerned about colour and clarity. Would an I colour stone look too yellow? Is an SI1 stone clean enough?

I''m thinking about a .5-ish ct center stone and .15 sidestones, and I don''t have info on the sidestones yet. If the sidestones are G or H, would that make an I center stone look yellowish?

One last question: I''ve heard about the PS discount with WF; how does that work? How much of a discount is it?

Thanks for your input and advice!

Hi anchor!! I think those choices will be lovely and the setting too!

Regarding color, "I" would probably the lowest I would go as I saw a H&A J that you can definitely detect some warmth when looking through the sides...face up is a different story. It all depends on how color sensitive you really are. I was able to spot a bit of tint in an H color Royal Asscher but can''t spot any tint in my H color Jubilee it definitely all depends on the cut of the diamond.

As for SIs I think those will be great as long as they are eye-clean from the top and sides through a 10x loupe but thats just my definition of eye clean as I''m a stickler.

I think your ring will be gorgeous!
