i'm having my jewler CAD up a setting for me and i'm having a tough time decicing what i want for my 3 carat cushion- J color. I'd like a Halo and from what i've heard i should have the halo stones be no more than 2 grades higher than my center stone. Aside from that, what are the differences in size of the smaller stones? are all of the setting stone sizes and grades usually the same? thanks!

I never knew picking an engagement ring would be so hard! thanks guys

You don't have to shout. If we have something to say we can find you in a single thread and then come back to it.

Okay?

Hi OP, Good Morning, there's many old threads/posts about Halos, it's very popular and will likely stick around as a classic style. My guess is is 1 pt. each but you also need to look at some halo styles. They can be quite different. A very popular look is the Victor Canera Emilia setting. I think it's a single halo that's angled about 30 degrees. If you want more side stone coverage, you might consider a double halo, one that is visible from the face up position and one that's visible from the side view (this is a nice option if your shy about your J color). Others can chime in, but I took a shot since you're in a time crunch.

Also, think about if you want a split shank or not or if you want diamonds on the shank. How would the wedding band look?

Sorry about that gypsy, I got a little anxious yest. Thanks for your help on my threads.
Thanks luvdajules.. I will def look into those :)

I just remembered that Victor Canera does his halos custom to each center stone, selecting the best size melee for his signature look for the Emilia. So, your 3 carat cushion might be slightly bigger melee than say a less than 2 ct. center. Also, think about how you want the gallery to look and how high the stone will sit. The depth of a larger diamond will dictate a certain minimum, but since you're having the setting made, might as well get exactly what you want and what sets the center stone to it's best advantage.

Awesome. Thanks for the info. Now that you mention it, what would you suggest the depth of my setting for the center stone be? Is their a ruld of thumb for the size of carat and how high it sits? I've seen some that are almost flush with the halo stone, but I think I like the center stone to sit higher. Maybe have the hale stone at an able so it blends into the center stone, but the peak of the center stone is higher? What is the gallery? Sorry I'm new to this . Thanks
