Hey there,

I have a budget of about $3,200.00 for the center stone. I would like to order the diamond through Ritani, as this is where I will be purchasing the setting. I am looking for a round brilliant diamond, .85-.95ct, ideal cut, VS2/SI1 clarity, and H color. The color is rather important as the setting stones (halo) are H in color.

Anyone have advice as to where I might be able to go a little lower in one of the C's to save on cost? Am I heading in the right direction here?

Thank you!

I don't think your budget is in line with your specs. You probably will have to go down in color to I. I'll try to look quick.

Oh, and you can also look at Whiteflash diamonds because they are Ritani dealers. They give so much more info on the diamonds, too.

There is one more problem with your parameters. There is a pretty big price jump at .90 cts. So .85-.89 might be more what you are looking at, and there isn't going to be so much in that size range. You may have to make your range .80-.89.

I saw a post regarding Whiteflash and Ritani and was somewhat curious about it. How do I go about ordering a diamond through Whiteflash and having it placed into a Ritani setting?

I had a feeling I would have to drop down to .80-.90ct. I have included the links to one I have reserved and a few others I was looking at. Let me know what you think, if you could?

So are those on reserve for you? One says sold.

I have the .77ct on reserve right now as they took pictures/video for me. I did not realize that the .91ct has been sold, my apologies

That's okay, just wanted to be sure.

.80 H VVS1...bad cut

.80 G SI1...black inclusions under table, cut may have leakage

.77 H SI1...looks good

Their reserve ideal are the easiest to choose from because they have already selected the best cut stones. I looked through a bunch of I SI1's at .90 and didn't see any I would recommend.

If you want to look further, these parameters will help you stay in the better cut territory:

table: 54-58

depth: 60-62.3

crown angle: 34-35.0

pavilion angle: 40.6-41.0

I appreciate your time. I was also leaning towards the .77 as well. I edited the post and added these two on as well. What do you think of these two when compared to the .77 reserved ideal cut?

Both of the diamonds you last post score high on the HCA, so may not be good choices. They both also have medium fluorescence, which I know some members here find lovely, but others prefer diamonds that have little to negligible fl.

Another option mentioned previously is Whiteflash - they carry Ritani settings. You can search the different engagement setting styles on their website and can focus the search on Ritani under designer rings. If you contact one of their reps, they could assist you. Here is one they have that is around your budget, but is a little smaller than the .77 you are looking at: http://www.whiteflash.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut-loose-diamond-3092784.htm

Good luck!

You really need to follow the numbers I listed above and it will help you avoid stones with potential problems. I realize you may have been adding those extra stones when I was posting those parameters for you. #5 is 62.9 in depth making the stone's diameter smaller than a .80 should be. Angles are a problem on #6, especially with no idealscope image.
