Hi there, first post after looking on quite a few threads. I''m buying an engagement ring and I''ve looked around and found the diamond i''m looking for on bluenile (a .47 Ideal I SI1) and i''m debating a 2mm band with channel sidestones and a 3mm band with channel sidestones. She is a bigger lady and has a size 7.5 finger, i''ve heard 2mm would simply be too small on a 7.5 but we both prefer the look of the 2mm. the 3mm is fine, the 2mm is just better, and also happens to be cheaper. Is it too small? Would it make any difference if it was complimented by a 2.5mm band instead of a 2mm band? Thanks for your input.

If you prefer the look of the 2mm, by all means get that one! I think it would look lovely.

the thing is with it online (and also still SOMEWHAT of a surprise, i can''t take her into a store) theres no real way to tell if a 2mm would look too small on her? I don''t think it would but a bluenile rep (and some of the feedback on the ring) suggested that, though i think she was just upselling me. I on the other hand figured the 2mm would definitely make the diamond look bigger so that was a plus. ugg decisions.

i have a size 7 finger and i love 2mm. i dont think it would be that different with a 7.5. thats my opinion if it helps. it looks dainty and feminine.

Ahh it hasn''t been tried on huh?

Are her fingers long and slender? Or on the shorter side?

not particularly short no, decently long, not exactly slender

First, try to try something similar on in person if you haven''t yet; what looks neat on a screen can look terrible on the hand (and I do speak from experience in this area!)

Then go with what you both like. 7.5 is not huge, it''s only a teensy bit larger than average. Don''t get it too snug though- that''s when settings can look weird IMHO. I like my rings a half size loose, a lot of people do; it gives you some wiggle room on hot days.

I have a size 7 right hand ring and would much prefer 2mm to 3mm, but I like dainty looking rings.

If she likes delicate and feminine rings I''d definitely go with the 2mm. In my personal opinion I think channel set designs can get a little masculine looking when the bands get thicker. I wouldn''t worry about her finger size, it''s practically average.

Im a size 7, and of the "not particularly short, decently long, not exactly slender" type

and the shank on this ring is 1.9mm, with 1 pointers on the side. I am posting to show you the proportions (her finger size is slightly bigger, but then again, the shank that you are considering is slightly bigger too).

Hope this helps.

I think you''ll be fine with the 2mm ring. I agree with Kcoursolle that the channel set ones start to get heavy looking pretty quickly.

I love Grace''s ring on her hand and yours would be similar proportions. Just make sure it''s the right size, sausage fingers can happen to anyone and it isn''t a good look!!!!

Ditto what Neatfreak said. For as long as the ring is properly sized, she should be ok.

best part about the slimmer shank... it makes the rock seem that much bigger too!
