Opinions please all you PSers with impeccable taste! Do you think a 2mm band is too thin for a 0.70ct RB. I have thinnish fingers (5.0 but only due to big nuckles) and I love the look of a thin band. What do you guys think? Thanks again for your help, it has been invaluable!! (I would probably go 2mm plain wband too later on.)

No way! I love the look of delicate bands on solitaires.

def not. It will look fantastic and really help your diamond stand out (in my opinion obviously)

However, I am not sure if this is true or not, but I do understand that thinner bands will be a bit looser than a same size thicker band, and may spin a little more easily (which makes since being that there will be less surface area giving resistance to the spin?). So if your knuckles cause for your ring to be a bit bigger than would be ideal, and then the thinner band causes it to spin a bit easier you might need to take some action to prevent the band from spinning? there are some options out there for that though, and I might be wrong all together.

Ahhh....the great debate on how thin is too thin!! To answer your question, I don''t think 2mm is too thin for the size stone that you mentioned. The thinness will definitely make the stone pop! However I think the thinness must be weighed against insuring the integrity of the stone or stones. Will there be pave on the shank? I ask because I wanted my band as thin as possible and I also wanted pave on the shank. So I was told when we were designing the ring that the thinnest we could go was 2.3mm to protect the integrity of the pave. Just something to keep in mind.

Have you tried on a 2 mm band before? I suggest you do so you can judge for yourself. Personally my 2.5 mm WB is the thinnest I would go but I like more substancial settings.

I think 2mm would be perfect for a .70 stone. A thin and delicate band will help your center stone pop!

My wedding band is 2mm with a 1/4 ct of diamonds, I wear it with my 1.01 princess cut, I just love the smaller band with the added sparkle

I think it would look great but go try it on and try a 3 mm to see which one you like. Then post pictures. Yeah!

Thanks everyone, I was hoping you would opinions would be positive. Onedrop - thanks for pointing that out, but I am thinking plain band not pave.

I am still officially a LIW (hopefully soon!), but when he''s ready I have so got the ring picked out already!!

just my $.02... i LOVE thin bands!! i think i drove my fiance crazy when he was getting the ring made because i kept telling him i wanted the band as thin as possible. my band is 1.6mm w/ a 2.2ct asscher, and i have size 4 fingers. the jewelers said it was risky, but only because it''s a micro-set band and i might lose diamonds, but i''m really careful with it and haven''t had any problems so far (knock on wood). at any rate, you won''t have that problem if you''re going for a plain band. i get a lot of comments about how dainty the ring is-- which is the look i was going for.

so... in plainer terms, go for the 2mm! i think it''ll look fantastic! but i agree w/ marcyc, too... it''s always nice to have an excuse to try rings on, too, and it''ll give you a better idea of what you''ll be happy with.
