Hello there,

Wondering if you could help me out?

A friend of mine has a 27 carat cushion cut diamond vvs2 colour I.
It's will eventually be going up for auction but he has no idea what it could fetch.
I have a feeling because of the colour that it will not get as much as some of the other diamonds I've seen on auction that size that are getting 2 million plus.

I know it can vary but any opinions appreciated.

Thanks

You probably know as much about it as anyone here, and you came up with two million plus.

Other factors--what sort of cushion is it? There are many styles. Is it a popular style? Is it well cut for the style it is? Could it be recut, and at how much weight loss?

A yellow tint is not necessarily a negative in a cushion, and I isn't that yellow anyhow.

Does it have a cool history and a cute name, like the Taylor-Burton or the Hope? Can someone find a cute name for it? Or is it's history the inside of a bank deposit box?

Ultimately it will sell for whatever someone is willing to pay for it. If you have two million to spend on a diamond, you can probably come up with three million to spend on a diamond. It's just how much you want it.

Short answer is that it really needs to be seen by an expert.

Thanks

The cut is excellent and one of the most stand out things about it when looked at by the experts from what they said.
They also said it was more of an old fashioned cushion cut if that makes any sense?

I haven't got it, it's my friends.

Sorry

Old fashioned is good, especially if it's a low color. But old is all relative.

Maybe your friend can take some pics. ? We're (okay, I am a) sucker for bling pics. I can say I haven't seen too many (pics of) 27 ct diamonds.
