Forgive me, but I posted last week. I had another question, but I think my post was buried. Please bare with me. We are coming up on our 25th anniversary on the 27th. My husband wanted to replace my wedding/engagement ring because they were accidentally given to Goodwill over 10 years ago during a move. I had cut my finger during the move and ended up in the hospital with a staph infection. Since I wasn't able to wear my rings, somehow they ended up in a box of items that went to Goodwill. 
I inherited a ring after my parents passed away about 5 years ago. My dad had purchased a marquise anniversary ring for my mom as a gift very late into their marriage. They celebrated 62 years together.
Quite honestly, he probably purchased it from a chain jeweler and the stones are not of the highest quality. But it brings such joy to my heart, because it brought joy to his heart and my mom's heart.
Since my husband and I are at the college stage of 2 children, I thought it wasn't wise to indulge in a ring. Also, I am not much of a jewelry person. You will see from my original post there were request for me to clean the ring in question. I had to giggle on that one! (A lot of my time is spent on the back of a horse and probably the reason for my ring not being clean.
So, I convinced my husband to let me buy a diamond off Craigslist and use it as a center stone in place of the middle marquis of my mom's anniversary ring. Are you cringing yet? During the purchase of the diamond, I was told by an independent jeweler the stone was of a late european cut. Thus, I started my quest of research and I have fallen in love with the older cut diamonds. Yes, this is coming from the non jewelry person.
In my previous post, I was told most likely my round stone is early modern brilliant. Can anyone expound upon this? I would really appreciate it.
Also, before I had the round diamond set, I was told it is 0.74 ct. The gentleman who set it was surprised I only paid 400 dollars. Thoughts??? I know it is not of the highest color or clarity, but I love this ring. I cant explain why, but I just do. The pictures do nothing for the way it sparkles. We would like to purchase a simple wedding band to go with it. Any thoughts?
