BrownEyedCountryGirl, you got a Leon ring with a 1.8ct stone for 13k total? Can I ask where you got the stone and how you got it for so cheap? People were showing me 2ct stones for 20k alone. I was hoping to do something slightly larger than yours in a RB for slightly more money and I love artofplatinum''s pieces.

Thanks, sorry to hijack, I wish I was able to drop 25k, I am willing, but not able, I want to try and retire early too!! haha.

Ben
Yah BEG!! What on Earth! How did I mess this up so much? You must explain, bc I was thinking that your Leon with all the detail on it was probably the one that would have been more expensive than mine, if not similar. It such a stunning, detailed ring, it''s just hard to believe. Come back!!! tell us more!!
I may be wrong, but I think she meant the settings only...

YAH... she said Total 13k. I would assume that includes the stone, but she has a big stone, so I am lost.

Where are you BrownEyedGirl?????

yup, she paid 13k for setting only i''m pretty sure.

Ring Seeker, My vote is, for 25k, make sure you''ve got a decent idea of what she really likes - a lil research on SMTR threads should fix that right up - and then get her whatever she wants! (you can afford to with your fantastic budget

) You''ve been given some good ideas and advice already, and have taken the right step by doing your research here. I know you mentioned a 3 stone, and i echo the sentiments to get a good size centre with matching ideal cut sides and most likely a Leon mege custom.
I would place a call to Jonathan W. at Good Old Gold - for this kind of purchase you will want a knowledgeable and attentive sales person. I am finalizing my purchase from GOG and couldn''t be happier with the customer service. Personally I feel a purchase of this calibre, the service you get along the way will make all the difference on whether its a happy, educational experience, or just a stressful difficult one !
Good luck and do keep posting as you need to

Wow, I''d be so excited to have that much to spend. Definitely pick a gorgeous diamond for about 20K then pick out a dreamy ring. What size stones and style of ring does she wear?

OMG, you guys are funny !!!!!

I just happened to look on this thread and saw all the posts about my ring ...

Yep, it''s true, only 13k TOTAL.. for EVERYTHING....

The stone, the setting, the labour, ALL OF IT...

Just a sec.. I have the invoice...

The cost for the SETTING, Ring R221, three stone pave in platinum was 3800.00

The cost for the CENTRE STONE, Asscher J,VS2,1.80 was 7,191.00 (Amazing deal)

The cost for the SIDESTONES (shields) at 0.63 tcw was 1,660

The cost for the MELEE, which is the 196 pave stones on the band (three sided), head and prongs was 702.00

For a grand total of 13,353....

The centre stone was "floated" around online, and my FI and I first spotted it on EBAY of all places... Leon had found it as well, and was SHOCKED it was on Ebay and immediately contacted the seller, who happened to be one of his distributors.. let''s just say he was not pleased..

Anyhoo, my FI purchased the stone through Leon.

Leon has access to AMAZING stones and my FI left the sides stones completely up to him and they are magnificant !!!

Leon''s work is extraordinary and because of the detail, I think most assume his prices refect that.. insome cases yes, but even his solitare settings or settings with not as much detail as mine are MORE than reasonable.

His labour, considering the work in each ring, is more than reasonable and is actually less expensive than most designers...

The stone in my ring was an amazing deal and I have yet to find one with the same specs under 10k...

When looking at diamonds, SHOP around and take your time.. it''s amazing what you''ll find....

Sometimes I wish I would have done more of it...... I have seen some incredible deals...

WOW. . . Thanks everyone for the immediate feedback. . . Okay so after reading these posts it seems that most of you, with a 25k budget would: 1) spend 20k on a center diamond, bought online, then 2.) Send the diamond to Leon Mege (who I have never heard of before but saw the link), to have them fit the diamond into a setting, Leon-sytle? Thats seems kinda crazy to me, no? I guess its a good thing that I posted a message on this site, I''m the guy who thinks all rings are the same, prolly would''ve walked into the 1st jewelry store that I see and bought a ring and walked out. huh. I guess a big part of me feels more comfortable seeing the ring in my hand, as opposed to buying one online. Are there any reputable b&m stores that you guys would be able to recommend? In New England, Boston/Rhode Island area? Again, the feedback is incredible; I''m learning more with each passing minute on this site!

Ring seeker... agian so sorry for the threadjack, but it is over now, promise!

Leon is as highly reccomended as they come. I literaly had my stone in my posession for about 5 mins before I handed it off to him, never to be seen again til it was set. His reputation is far too valuable for him to put on the line, so as far as the safety of your stone, there are absolutely no worries.
You need to look through his site though, and see if anything appeals to you. It doesn''t necessairly have to be an exact ring, but details of some put together. He does many orders via phone, but you aren''t that far so maybe you could go to the city to pick out the diamond from Mark at ERD and then take it to Leon so you feel more comfortable. If you find something online that you think will be fine for her then you can always do that, but with a 3 stone ring it may be a little more difficult.

There are quite a few Boston people her. Maybe DBlu has a jeweler she can reccomend.

HI:

How about Mark Morrell? He is closer to your neck of the woods....(me thinks!!)

cheers--Sharon

I was going to recommend Mark Morrell as well, but I would seriously considering taking the quick trip down to NYC to see Leon''s work. We bought my e-ring from Shreve, Crump and Low on Boylston (pre-Pricescope) and they were great to work with--not your typical B&M--but if I were to get another ring I''d probably have Leon do it since NYC really isn''t far from Boston and for something like this it''s completely worth it.

If you are looking for a Boston B&M, I would recommend Sister''s Jewelry in the Jewelers Building on Washington Street. I have used them for years and they are wonderful. I did my homework on line for my most recent purchase, a 1.9 Radiant, and used pricescope to find my diamond and then went through the ladies. I showed them my homework from Pricescope and they came very close to the online price of the virtual diamond. It was a virtual diamond that they called in (they must use the same NY source as some of the on-line vendors), and they were very competitive. I went through them because (1) I trust them and have developed a relationship with them; (b) they had a great selection of settings (Ritani, Michael B., Pink, Tacori and more) and (c) if I ever had a problem with my ring, they would take care of me.

You have a great budget to work with. Good luck!
