Hi Guys-

I just bought this .25ct Pear shaped Natural White Diamond from my wholesaler and noticed when I got home that it has a laser inscription on the girdle. Does anybody know which company certified this diamond?

The number is Leo(?) 223023 UC

I don't know much about inscriptions, so I won't be a lot of help, but I'd be surprised it the first three letters were LEO. I think LEO diamonds are all RBs. I did a quick google image search of diamond inscriptions and couldn't find one that matched yours. There are many appraisers and trades people on these boards, hopefully they will see your thread, recognize the inscription and be able to give you more information. Of course you could call your jeweler and ask him, he would be in a better position to tell you where the stone came from.

Maybe it is a "first generation LEO"? I have no idea it is not really that easy to find

Sorry, I don't know which lab graded that diamond but those are pretty sharp macro pics of laser inscriptions.
That's not too easy to get.
Kudos to you.

Since I love macrophotography I'm curious what brand and model of lens and camera you used.
Did you use any extension rings, teleconverters, bellows or a reversed wide angle lens?

I didnt think those pictures were that good, just good enough to make out the edge inscription. I can do much better than that if I took my time. I work with my scerio microscope and Sony Cyber-shot 14.1 Mega pixel camera. The pair takes very good pictures of Insects In amber which I am used to. I need to clean the lenses up a bit to take better pictures of diamonds.

I may be able to take some interesting pictures of inclusions in I clarity diamonds and other things, but really havent found practical uses for the setup other than taking pictures of the inscriptions.

Does anybody know who certified the diamond I posted above??

First off, that doesn't say "LEO", it's a symbol. With some help from Google, looks like that's the logo of Lazare.

Thanks for the help!

I wonder if i can get a copy of the certificate re-issued?
