Ok...so I am on the hunt for a princess cut for an engagement ring and it is proving to be quite a bit more complicated than i had hoped. I have been lurking on the PS boards for quite some time now and I feel it is time to reach out for some help.

Here are the stones I am looking at:

http://www.goodoldgold.com/diamond/4182/

Thoughts?

I noticed that these are almost the same carat, both VS2, both IDEAL in cut, polish and symmetry, but the table to depth ratio is a bit higher on the cheaper stone. other than that, does anything jump out as the reason for a $2400 difference in price?

AND if someone wants to help pick out a stone, I am looking for:

Cut: Princess
Cut Rating: Ideal or Excellent
Polish: EX - VG
Symmetry: EX - VG
Carat: 1.3 - 1.6
Clarity: VVS1 - SI1
Color: F - I
Budget: Ideally, I''d like to pay between $7,000 - $8000, but I can go up around $9,000 if the options are limited with these search criteria.

Thanks a TON!!!

from what i have seen....every step up in color for 1ct 1.5 ct stones is $1000+, so you are going from I to G...that explains about $ 2000 change.

I actually just showed someone else this stone, but it is $9200 for 1.52 H SI1:

I really think that G VS2 at 1.46 is a great value since you don''t have to pay the price jump for going over 1.5.
