20k usd+ GIA stones in dubai

Hi there,

my fiance and I are based in Dubai and we are looking to get some custom bridal jewelry made.

We visted a couple of diamond jewelry stores here in Dubai (UAE) and they say they are able to make the designs we want using GIA certified stones.

Can anyone vouch for having the jewelry made here and if so which retailers do you recommend we use?


They sell Gia stones in these cardboard packages here... Is it safe to buy these stones? Can I get an appraiser to verify that these stones are actually legit?

GIA doesn't grade small stones. Well, okay, let me rephrase that. GIA might grade them. But it is a waste of money for most vendors to send stones smaller than 20 points to GIA or any lab. So if you are talking SMALL stones (like pave, etc). Then I doubt any of them are GIA graded. If you are talking larger stones... each should have a lab report. And a lab report number that you can look up on the GIA site. Also with a good standard 10x loupe you can match the inclusions of stones VS2 and SI1 clarity to the plot and see if there is a match. Inclusions are like birthmarks. For stones that are VS1... you can do the same, but with a higher powered loupe (20x).

What you really need is a jeweler you can trust.
