I purchased my wifes ring from sams club regal elegance collection in Dec 2003.

I have all the docs on them and can upload for inspection.

I can also include pics of the ring.

I dont really want to sell them but I would like to know if I played Ned Beatty in Deliverance, or I really did get a good deal on this ring and its worth more now than I paid.

The report says

Diamond B,5- ROUND BRILLIANT, 4.04-4.08 X 2.51 MM, tw 1.26 CT, VS2, I, EXCELLENT
Diamond A, ROUND BRILLIANT,5.01-5.04 X 2.97MM, 0.46 CT, VVS2, I, EXCELLENT.

description: two 18k white gold rings, approx 6.2 DWT. CONT.14 DIAMONDS, 8 RBC TW. 0.24 CT9S0. AVG. CLA VVS2-VVS1, COL H-I, 6 DIAMONDS

What should I do now?
I would also like to have the ring resized.
How should I go about selecting the jeweler when I trust only my mother and she cant do it.
I would really like to find someone in the Atlanta area or Birmingham AL area willing to help me out.

I have a diamond appraised at 17k 15 years ago.
Its an emerald cut monster.
Im afraid to take it anywhere.

You could give me CZ and I would say something like " You cleaned it up good"
Perhaps a moderator can recommend someone.
The emerald cut will be sold one day.
Maybe in the next few years.

Im just looking for someone I can trust to advise me correctly and help me assess where I am today with my past purchase.
In return I will buy from you or someone you recommend.
You may also get first shot at the Emerald diamond.

Im ignorant.
I need an honest person.
I cant tell you what my family has spent on jewelry in the last 2 years.
Im tired of retail.
Cant I buy the same stuff for less from someone that doesnt have multi-million dollar retail real estate to pay for?
I dont begrudge making money but darn.

Am I asking too much?

I would send it in to be appraised make sure it matches the cert. What kind of cert do you have? Can you return it if you wanted to?

You might check out the tutorial above, under "Knowledge," about buying diamonds as an investment. I''m not an expert, but I have been looking to upgrade a diamond purchased 13 years ago. It has not appreciated in value. If anything, I think I could probably pick up the same specs for slightly less than paid back then (because that was waaaay back before the internet

). I have not noticed a huge movement in diamond prices for "normal sized" diamonds. Just my 0.02, but I wouldn''t expect it to be worth more than what you paid. Also, "worth" depends on a market, and it can be difficult to sell a "normal sized" diamond with modern characteristics for what you paid for it, let alone for a premium. I wouldn''t be surprised if you can get it appraised for more than you paid, but that does not equate to money in your pocket (unless it''s for insurance replacement value).

Sounds like you need an independant appraiser.
There are 2 listed for GA and both allow you to be present at the appraisal

https://www.pricescope.com/appraisers_GA.aspx

and one in AL..
https://www.pricescope.com/appraisers_AL.aspx

You can save money buying online vs most local stores but be careful and use only fully reviewed vendors amd not joe smo ebay dude.
Looking around here you will quickly pick up who is recomended.
See this thread for a list too get you started:

Knowledge is power. You need to spend some time researching and learning about the market, and you won''t feel so lost. There is a lot of information here and elsewhere. Do the legwork and it will pay off, or you can just trust someone and hope for the best. Up to you.
