Re: $20-$25K For Cushion Engagement Ring w/ Thin Pave Settin
I think it looks beautiful, except I think that I would send it back to have the head adjusted, and I'm not sure what it is about JA prongs ( I own this particular setting too in the 2mm) but they sometimes look bulbous to me. I've been considering having prong work done on mine to make it look sleeker and sexier I suppose.
Do you like it? Are you happy? I think your stone is beautiful, the setting is beautiful, I would just make a couple small adjustments and get on with the engagement!
ETA: Did you get the 1.5mm? I actually had the 1.5 and exchanged because in certain light when I looked at my ring I felt that I could only see prong and the diamonds got lost. The 2mm is still extremely dainty and very thin, but the diamonds are .02 and make a huge difference in the appearance of the band, and IMO was well worth the few hundred dollars. If you are going to send the ring back for head work anyway you may want to consider the 2mm. My apologies if you do indeed have the 2mm but from the pics it looks smaller, although it could be the way it fits on your finger.
Re: $20-$25K For Cushion Engagement Ring w/ Thin Pave Settin
I was originally going to go with the thin pave (1.5mm), but I was told by JA that it may be too thin for the diamond (might of required creating a basket to secure the diamond) so I wound up going with the "regular" 2mm size Pave band.
JA said that cushion diamonds are more "tricky" to set and that the size of the diamond relative to the band I picked may also be an issue (although the website says this band should fit cushions up to 3 carats). They said they may need to reset the stone with a basket but they would have to examine it first.
I like the diamond and the band overall. I'm just a little annoyed cause we're leaving for a trip to Paris early next week and I wanted the ring to be perfect for the proposal. I didn't really notice the slight misalignment until I showed it to a few of my friends and several of them noticed it. Now I see it every day and it just bugs me that a $21k ring would go out this way... I hope this is something they can fix relatively easy.
