2 very Similar diamond-symmetry and polish - main difference

Hi everyone:

I am looking at 2 diamonds.
Proportions, dimensions, light return are pretty much exact.

So my concern is, would it be better to have a better color diamond (E) but sacrifice the Symmetry and Polish, or go with the G and sacrifice the color but gain the symmetry and polish. Both diamonds are certified by GIA.
I am leaning towards the E - solely based on color.

Diamond 1:
E
1.01
SI1
Cut – Excellent
Symmetry - VG
Polish – VG

Diamond 2:
G
1.01
SI1
Cut – Excellent
Symmetry - Excellent
Polish – Excellent

Thanks for all your help.

I'd back up and look closer at cut before looking at polish and symmetry.
Unfortunately, GIA's top cut grade of Excellent includes some proportions that are not so great.
Here is a better way to identify a well-cut round:

Enter Depth%, Table %, Crown and Pavilion angles in degrees into the HCA:

Reject those that score over 2.0.
For those that score under 2.0 get an Idealscope pic.

Compare it to this chart.

An E will be a LOT more expensive than a G.
To some people it's worth it, to others it is not.

To find out if the E is worth it to YOU go out and compare Es to Gs live, in person.
Be sure to only look at diamonds graded by GIA or AGS, since other some labs lie about color and clarity grades.

Also, get the diamonds away from those jewelry store lights.
They can practically make a lump of coal sparkle with colored fire.
Lighting that produces lots of colored fire prevents you from seeing the body color in diamonds.

Also, you and/or your fiancé may belong to a culture that values very high color and clarity and to get it are happy end up with a smaller diamond.

IOW color and clarity are personal, and there is no wrong choice ... unless it is an uninformed choice.
