2 stones to choose from NEED HELP PLEASE ?!?

Hello Everyone,

I have a choice to make here for a stone that needs to have as close to a 6.5mm diameter as possible (I believe that means it has to be at least a 1ct stone?) to fit properly into an Alex Sepkus ring (model: R-80M in platnium) that I am pretty darn positive I have chosen to go with for the big question day!

I have attached the pdf files of the diamonds, I recently looked at, that my local Jeweler supplied to me to continue my decision making process.

I was steering(ed) to the 1.11 H ($7250)....the viewing under 10x was showing a slightest of slight feather/spec in the table and the small amount of cloud around one part of the perimeter.

The 1.03 G was clear clear, but was $7920....

I kinda wanted to go with the 1.11 since it did have the larger diameter... Why??? ...

Since this particular ring/setting is a full bezel, the smaller end of the diameter spectrum that the diamond I choose has.... the thicker the bezel around the diamond would be...

Therefore with the larger diameter stone (that has inclusions that are fine with me and with the H color, also looked fine to me next to the other G color stone) ... the overall thickness of the metal bezel would become thinner and thus more focus on the stone...

Does any of this babble make sense? Ok, so if anyone can help me out with reading the reports, angles, proportions and if the prices are in line...please let me know...I have to make a decision pretty quick here and any help would be appriciated

Also, if there are any experts out there that can show me similar stones with what I am in need of that are a better overall bargain that would be super too!

Can you get an idealscope image? The 1.11c is at the border of steep/deep, might have some leakage or not depending on the averaging and rounding of the numbers by GIA. Leakage is bad for a bezel mount as it will make the stone look dark.

Should I ask the jeweler to provide an idealscope report? Nothing was said to me about it by them?

Most jewelers do not have these scope.

Ask if they have the scope and if you can use it or buy one yourself, relatively cheap at $25 for the basic idealscope. http://ideal-scope.com/cart_order.asp

Stonecold is right, an Idealscope image would be very helpful either from the seller, or if you purchase a scope you can check for yourself for light leakage. As stonecold explains, this stone is borderline steep deep and it does depend on the averages of the angles, forced rounding as per GIA cut grading and overall precision of the cut can make or break this angle combo for light leakage.

This is a safer bet because its angles are more desirable and it already comes with an IS image and other cut evalutation tools. It is a gorgeous diamond. Also WF has a lifetime upgrade and buyback policy that you may or may not get from your jeweler. Not to mention it is almost $1k less expensive

I am just wondering about the WF diamond. It does not show the inclusions on the report and says something about clouds not shown? I am a bit concerned due to the fact it is SI1? thanks again in advance for your help everyone.

Do you mean this one? The inclusions are on the cert (click AGS), they are pretty miniscule and the grade makers are a needle, a crystal and a feather. No worries. Most certs say "additional clouds not shown". Only when it says, "Clarity grade based on additonal clouds not shown" should you worry.

Very nice pick!! WF will give you their honest opinion about the inclusions. Call and speak to a sales associate about it.

Yes, I didn''t see that. It does not necessarily mean to avoid it all together, it does mean that you need to have a qualified gemologist examine the diamond to determine whether or not the clouds are large enough to affect the light performance of the diamond. WF can comment on this issue for you. But I might consider other options instead.
