I got to stones I am comparing. One is from a B&M the other is online. Let me know what you guys think.

B&M Stone:

2.31 Carats
AGS Ideal 0 (older report so no light performance
Color H
Clarity VS2
Table 61.6
Depth 56
Crown 35
Pavaillion 41
HCA rates a 2.2.

This one has tricky 41 35.

e=Stone:
2.31 Carats
AGS Ideal 0 Light Performance 0 Proportion Factors 0
Color H
Clarity VS2
Table 61.1
Depth 56
Crown 34.3
Pavaillion 40,7
HCA rates a 0.9

What makes the stone look larger the Table?

Based on the numbers alone, I would definitely go with the second one. Did you get the numbers backward? I think table should be 56, depth should be 61.6 or 61.1.

yeah numbers are right but backwards

IMO, the first thing I look at to evaluate the visual size is the diameter, which you left off. If they are similar, then it is probably up to your eyes to see what you like the best. Experts have said in the past that it takes about .1mm to see a visiau size difference.

I would try to get an idealscope picture of each stone and compare them.

Hpw do I get the idealscope images made?

I too was told the idealscope would give more information. If you are an expert, please look at my posting (need help with idealscope image(second one)) and give opinion on mine. Thanks, viphan01

Ask the vendor/seller to provide the images for you.

I dont think the B&M store does that for there stones. I dont even think htey know what it is. They are pulling the Sarin report for me.

out of curiosity, what is the difference in price?

Price should be very similar. the B&M store is currently 3000 more. But that is with no discounts. I added another stone to the mix.

I am ready to uy asap so let me know what you think all prices are very similar.

What you guys think about these 3 please procide some opinions thanks

Both the 2nd and 3rd look nice from the numbers. But without an IS, I'd personally, probably go the safe route and get the AGS0. (2nd)

Can anybody on PS run an Ideal Scope for me? What is needed to do so?

The vendor who has the stone in their hands will be able to put it under the Idealscope and take a picture. The other option is through DiamCalc which I don't have. DiamCalc runs a simulation based on the numbers. Based on the numbers you posted, I'd pick diamond #2 and #3. To finetune between the 2 choices, an Idealscope image will be very useful. Since both are online stones, ask the vendors for the IScope images.

Does anybody on this site have DiamCalc?

Any other opinions before i take the plunge?

Alright I think i am buying this one this weekend.

Just curious, what made you decide on that particular one?

Well i wanted the AGS Stone but it may not be available anymore. I figured both stones were very similar.

Am I making the wrong decision? It is a 2007 GIA cert. Stone is going to cost me about $27000.

Am I overpaying for that quality of stone? please ghelp m eout before I make the wrong decision.

I would find out for sure first.

I don''t think the stone is a mistake, it''s just harder to tell with GIA stones when you don''t have an IS or ASET. Could you get a Sarin report on it by chance? Honestly, it could very well be a lovely stone, but no one can say for sure.

As for the price, no, I don''t think it''s out of line in doing a search on those specs.

If you can''t get any other info, does the place you''re buying from have a good return policy?

Their return policy is good.

Since this is my first purchase. Do you have any recommendations of what i do with the stone once I get it besides getting it appraised?

i dont have an ideal scope - is there anything i can do at home on my own besides stare at it?
thanks

lol! That sounded funny. That''s what we ALL do when we get it.

If you are taking it to an independant appraisor, you''re good. They will be able to tell you if you got a great stone. And if not, you have a good return policy.

If you do get a good one, you''re done!
