I like a four prong but only if it accentuates a round shape of the diamond (without giving it a square shape.) Plus, the stones are stacked nicely together. That is what I have just purchased. I contemplated to get a 3-prong but the stones were too far apart in that one.
Depends on the stone shape, size of stones, and lifestyle.

Both of mine from @Wink at HPD have the safety of 4 prongs with the look of 3 prongs.
They are hand assembled bracelets with .33s and .20s (Fancy Intense Yellows)

I love my 3 prong, I worried that 2 prong wouldn't be secure enough, and don't like the squarish look that four prongs can give. 3 was a good compromise!
I love my 3 prong.
