Is it possible to say how these two stones will perform? Will one have more pinfire or more broadfire than the other? More brilliance? etc... My novice read into them suggests that B will provide more contrast while A will appear brighter due to less light leakage. Are any of my assumptions remotely correct? Does anyone prefer one over the other and why?

What you see in the lighting / shade differences is just differences in lighting and photo type.

But you are right about the differences in contrast - the proportions of both stones are excellent - and would be equivalently beatiful.

But I would choose the one on the lfet because it is slightly painted where as the one on the right has been slightly dug out, which i avoid for my own store.

Was just going through a couple previous threads re: tweaking where you had made comments. Of particular interest was the thread \"How to read an ideal scope picture for light return?\". Looks like I''m gonna be up doing a tad more.

I''m glad that you were able to give your opinion purely based on the images.

There''s a reason why I didn''t post any other information re: the two diamonds. I didn''t wan''t anyone to be biased either way because of them.

Could you take a minute or two and quantify the personality of the diamonds?

diamonds are diamonds

Morning Gary,

diamonds are diamonds

Care to elaborate? lol j/k I read your reply to be as "Any one of these contenders is going to be a wonderful performer, plain and simple." Sometimes I wonder if coming upon this site did more harm than good. hehe

Thanks!

sometimes ignorance is bliss!!

i''d choose the one on the left just because i don''t need that much contrast as i do light return. plus the one on the left will still have ample contrast because it hasn''t been totally painted. just touched up...hahaa. anyway, left is my choice just based on the images.

I too would choose A purely based on the IS images. However, herein lies a little dilemna...

A) 1.21 ct G SI1 A Cut Above H&A
B) 1.29 ct H VS2 Round Ideal Cut

At this pricepoint, the price difference is neglible. As well as color and clarity being that both are eye-clean. How much of a difference can 0.1mm be, really.

Also, I know that I haven''t completely exhausted my search options being that WF was simply my first inquiry. I''m thinking of putting out the "bat signal" and maybe see the other options out there. I''ll be back later to add my thoughts between the too. The GF and I plan on visiting some local B&Ms to look at more bauble.

Thanks for chiming Mara.

i''d still go with A. i like the G SI better than H VS but also i like the specs better on the A stone than the B. small nuances really. but with me liking A idealscope better then the A numbers just corroborate the visual yumminess. hee.

if someone would like to adjust the color saturation etc then those 2 images could be just as good as each other.

They are both so near perfect stones there is nothing to argue about

Same photo''s lightened and darkened - does it change your perception folks?

Nope, still think the other info will have to make the decision they both pass the IS test.

Id likely go with the ACA for the h&a, slighly tighter pavilion and lower crown angle.

After looking at the adjusted images (Thanks Gary) the IS images are now moot in my eyes. I guess it all comes down the numbers now, which still lead me to the 1.21. Being the numbers and stats guy that I am, I started my search with a specific range for stats. Most of which were not based on Mara''s own preferences.

The 1.21 meets all those criteria. The 1.29 was found by loosening my search criteria a little. My main issue with it is the depth, though it could be offset by the extra carat weight. I thank everyone for their opinions. I''ll have to ponder this some more.

storm and Dill pickle, my point was that these are both very nice diamonds and the ideal-scope for both of them gives them a pass with distinction.

Stone B probably has a little more fire and a higher crown because the table looks to be smaller and the crown angle steeper - so i guess it is the one with deeper % - but you would be wrong to use your rules that way and knock it out.

Numbers may not lie, but they need good interpretation.

As Garry said both stones are going to be great, BUT because you are splitting hairs between two great stones (a wonderful place to be!)...I''d still choose the 1.21.
