Hello
For a size 6.5 longish finger would a 3.5mm each (7mm together) channel set band and ring look too much? or is it better to go with 2.5mm each (5mm together)
The center stone in 1.8ct round. She has told me to surprise her. I am stuck. or does it not make much difference.
Thank you guys!

I have 1.7 abs size 6.5. My ering is 2.8 mm and the band is 3.2 so a total of 6. I live the way it looks and wouldn’t mind another 1 mm here is a quick photo D57D593E-B32C-4F94-81A0-CE6B2EAC00A0.jpeg

I'll provide another point to consider: finger length. I wear a size 5-5.25 and have very little "finger real estate". Two thin (2.5mm or less) is the max. I second the suggestion to check out the stacking thread. You can find some photos of hands that are similar to those of your intended. Congrats! :)

Personally, I’d go max of 2.5mm

2.5 mm would be my suggestion. Not a great picture but I have 6.5 fingers (rings are loose at 6.75 though). Ering is 1.8mm and
channel band is 2mm. Stone is 1.65 for reference.

I love this look! But I think the aesthetic is different when it's a metal band vs anything with diamonds. If your wedding band had diamonds of that width I would be worried about it overwhelming your ering.

What’s her personality and style?

I have short fingers but I like wide, hefty bands. It suits me. My channel band is 2.8mm and my plain band is 2mm. I wish both bands were wider since I wear them alone. I usually wear only 1 ring. I’m not into stacking or dainty jewelry.

Go with the 3.5mm band. This way when she wears it solo, it is visible.

The ring is actually 3.54mm and the band is 3.18mm, together they stack up to 7.1mm.

I think it depends on the look you're going after. Not sure if these pics will help but these bands add up to about 7mm
on my size 6.5 finger.

My bands don’t match. It’s fine. But if I could do it again… I would get the widths to be the same. I’d do a full eternity since the band always spins. And I’d make my band to be a little loose. I think the jeweller called it a size plus.

If you’re still not sure, could you ask the jeweler to make a wax mold?

This is my set. The engagement ring is 4.5mm and the wedding band is 3.0mm. I love it. I like that the wedding band is a little thinner than the engagement ring. For our 25th anniversary, I’m going to get another matching band for a little more bling when the mood strikes. Sorry for the really old looking hands. I’m old, but my hands look about 20 years older! LOL.
My ring size is 71/4 for reference and I have big hands as I’m a tall gal.

1397BE22-E717-4239-BAAB-99D4F03233FF.jpegThis is a 2.5 mm channel set on a size 6.5 hand with short fingers. As you can see, it takes up a lot of real estate! The center stone here is .5 carat. Will both rings be channel set?

Yes both will be channel set

with the ring and the band being 3.5 each should i size up one or both to 6.75 or 7? or leave them both as 6.5? she is 6.5
I am engraving them so I would like to not resize them

I think both 3.5 channel set will look dated... sets like that were popular in the 90s/80s

Dainty bands are in right now... the daintier the band the more center stone will stand out

Check out the stacking thread in smtb. You can get lots of ideas.

Nala, can you give us the link to that thread pls?? I couldn’t find it. Ty!

My band is a size 4.5 and I recently got a jeweler to shave off a bit off on the inside so it's a loose 4.5. My ER is a size 4.5 with sizing beads. I wear my band alone when my fingers are swollen.

I wouldn't size up to a size 7 unless you plan to add sizing beads or a liner. I like adding beads/liners to my rings so they don't spin and I can shave them down if my ring size changes.

Hello
Admiring your oval set in the 4.5 mm engagement ring! Can I trouble you for the dimensions of your oval diamond? Thank you!! :-)

Another vote for the thinner band. My engagement ring is 2mm and my wedding ring is 2.5 mm. I also agree that two channel set rings together will look dated but if that’s what she likes you do you. Here is a picture of my setED2E8CB8-574A-468D-AD13-D0EC7EFF9645.pngED2E8CB8-574A-468D-AD13-D0EC7EFF9645.png

My engagement ring is a 1.5 ct princess with the setting is 4mm wide channel set princess. My wedding band matches width 4mm with 1ct total princess and baguette channel set. So basically 8mm total width my finger size is 6.25 with a Long finger.
