I found the following diamond on the internet for $18,200...Thoughts? Basically what I am looking for is a white eye clean stone that is 2.5 ct or bigger (in a round, radiant, or cushion cut) and I want to spend no more than $20,000...Is this possible?

Hello Andelsol!

Can you give us any more information about the stone? Pavillion angle perhaps or an HCA? Is this stone from one of the more familiar PS vendors like Whiteflash or GoodOldGold or JamesAllen? It seems like the table is a little large to be an ideal cut...have you considered going down in color a bit to make sure the cut is great? I just purchased (well my boyfriend did!) a 2.4ct from Whiteflash for $14,700...it was ideal cut, had a great idealscope and HCA score....the catch is that it''s a J. I haven''t seen it yet but have been told it''s very white...so it''s definately possible I think. Maybe someone else will chime in...

I just searched on the "cut quality" search tool and came up with nothing.

Looks like it might be possible in a J SI2. I don''t see any that size at the moment, but here is a top quality cut J SI2 2 ct. stone at $14,137:

The EGL stone you''re looking at may not be very well cut, and it more than likely is a lower color and clarity grade if the price is $18,000.

That stone is awesome...I wanted it really bad a while back.

Andelsol, you should look into that one. I''ve spoken to the people at GoodOldGold and they rave about this stone. There''s actually a video on their website that compares this one to a few larger stones. It performs MUCH better than the larger ones. Check it out!
