Edit: Let me also thank all of you on PS for your valued input, insight, comments, and information! This seemed such a daunting task months ago and now that it is almost complete I find it comforting that a community of individuals exists to help those like myself along in the process.

I'm in NYC so I've got a special spot lined up that means something (albeit, indirectly) to both of us. She always had told her family that she wanted to get engaged at this fantastic French restaurant in the city but that was too obvious to take her there. So I'll make reservations for there AFTER the big moment. As for exactly how... I'm still running through ideas but we take a lot of pictures together as a couple. I think before we venture out I'll snap a pic of the ring on her camera, toss it in her bag, and pretend to take a pic at the spot. I'll then ask her to see if it's a keeper (the pic) and after she pulls it up and see's the ring on the camera, I'll drop down and pop the question. Sounds good in my head but who knows...

I am actually surprised by the positive feedback on the proposal idea! We may have a winner as some of my close, close friends and immediate family think its a solid idea as well. I will certainly keep you all updated within the next 2 weeks.
