I recently bought a transitional cut diamond and I'm trying to decide whether to keep it or not (I'm still within the return period). The diamond is VS1 and 2.12 carats. The faceting is very, very pretty. The color is low, however, at Q-R and I'm having trouble figuring out what would be a reasonable price for a diamond like this - could you help please? The setting is pretty as well - it's an older platinum setting with some small accent diamonds. It was originally sold to me as a higher color but I had it looked at by one of the recommended appraisers on this site and he graded it a few grades lower at a Q-R (but agreed that the cut was lovely). I love everything about the ring, but I am hesitating over the color and the price. I know I need to figure out whether I am comfortable with the color or not (still debating that one!) but I would love feedback on price. Is $9,550 a fair price or should I return it and keep looking? My sense is that it may be too high given the color? I am at a loss and would be so grateful for any feedback you can give me.
