So the middle stone fell out of my 3 stone ring yesterday and it''s a ring I don''t have insurance on...trying to decide now if I want to get a new center diamond or do something fun with the two half carats. Any suggestions? What would you do?

wow lots of lookers but no ideas?

depends what you can afford.

Wow, you must be devastated. I know I would be. When did you realize it was gone? Personally, I love your set and would replace the stone. JMO! Good luck and keep us posted on your decision!

I think your ring is gorgeous and I would want to replace it. Another option would be to use a gemstone or take the 1/2 cts and make some gorgeous earrings. I''m so sorry you lost your diamond.

Prongs must have been loose, but I didn''t know it. I don''t wear it all that much. I guess I will replace the stone...just kind of bummed.

What a bummer! Depending on your budget and how much you liked your setting, I thought of a few different options:

1. You could simply replace the center stone and keep the setting as is.
2. You could pick a new setting and center stone and reset the two side stones as earrings.
3. You could pick a new setting and center stone, pick another stone to go with your remaining two side stones and construct a new, albeit smaller, three stone ring with them.

I would choose one of these options:

1. Make the side stones into earrings, then get a new solitaire (upgrade

?). If no upgrade, I''d go for the earrings + solitaire. I think I''d maybe want to disperse my diamonds.
2. Upgrade the center of the three-stone ring (if I really loved that setting).

For me, this would be the perfect time to say, "I''ll add a little more $ to get a bigger stone." No idea if that''s something you''d be interested in doing--it''s just what I would do. This decision totally depends on what you feel like doing since you''ll be wearing it every day!

Depends on if you want to replicate the original ring, but I would say use the two stones for earrings and upgrade to a solitaire. Two pieces out of one - you can''t do better than that

I already have a solitaire (1.8 ct) and I have two sets of studs (1.04 ctw and 1.26 ctw) and I guess I will replace or upgrade the middle stone...but I guess a little part of me was picturing a couple of new fun rings (maybe halo etc) but I don''t think I''d be happy with the small carat size anyway...so likely won''t do that.

How about a sapphire, or other colored stone, in place of the center stone? Come over to the Colored Stones forum and we would love to help you out!

Oh vslover, you must be besides yourself for that center stone. (((hugs))) Any chance of miraculously finding it?

I ditto the colored stone idea - a pad would look amazing in your blingy set!
