Even though I didn''t buy the 2.0, D, IF diamond, I ended up buying a 2.27ct, E, VVS2, cut=Ex, Polish=Ex, Sym=Ex, GIA certified...and yes, it''s from Costco. A diamond is a diamond no matter where you go as long as you get a good deal. Costco pricing is $15K-20K less expensive than online and $30K less than Tiffany. After I purchased the diamond, I got it appraised, as sugguested by you guys.

Thanks!
Many congrats to you, and please post pics of your new diamond when you are able please!!! It sounds wonderful!!

Edited. Never mind.

Congrats on your new diamond!

Congrats and can we pretty please see some pics?

I did NOT buy the 2.0, D, IF diamond but I ended up buying a 2.27ct, E, VVS2, cut=Ex, Polish=Ex, Sym=Ex, GIA certified. It''s very nice. The setting is being made right now so when it''s done, I''ll post some pics.

Congrats! We''d love to see the finished pretty!!!

It sounds like you bought a lovely, high quality diamond - good for you! I can''t wait to see the pictures and hear all about knocking her socks off when she sees that beauty! Congrats!

You know, I love our PS dealers. And personally I would shop from one of them over many stores, and I do encourage people to become more educated and take a look at WF, GOG, etc... but there is nothing wrong with Costco, I''m sure the educated consumer can have them source a very nice diamond. They have great policies and are a great company that believes in customer satisfaction. I am frankly disappointed that so many people on this thread are putting down the OP''s choice of vendor. You can encourage and teach without putting someone down. In fact, that''s the way most of the most helpful diamond educators on here Diamondseeker, Lorelei, and Ellen (I''m not gonna list everyone on this thread who has been helpful, there have been quite a few, so this list is not exhaustive) do it. To the rest of you who feel mocking a new person reaching out for education on here is the way to go... please take another look at your posts and ''listen'' to your tone of voice. If I were posting here for the first time some of you would drive me to never want to return.

You can get a badly cut diamond from HW and Cartier too. In fact there are threads on it.
Ditto!!

I can''t wait to see the ring, congrats!

Congrats. But withouth any of the specs on the diamond we an't tell you if its a winner or not (run the specs through the HCA)...

Also: how has everyone let this statement slide: Costco pricing is $15K-20K less expensive than online .

With exact specs and costs, I'm sure a number of PS'ers would set out to prove you wrong... ;)

Is Costco doing the setting too? I actually heard Costco Canada sells Rolexes...

The thing is sna, he''s not asking that.

And no, the pricing was not lost on me either. But at this point, he''s made his purchase and is happy with it.

well, his initial post was... ;) And yes, I forgot the Pricescope etiquite... Before they buy something hammer em' with details, numbers, etc... After the purchase, we make everyone feel warm and fuzzy about their purchase... ;) Unless we extened the initial roasting period until after the return policy expires... haa Sorry, I should be pulled away from the computer after a couple margaritas at the beach...

Any comments or concerns about this diamond? I took it to a fine jeweler and they said it''s an excellent stone. I ran the results in the HCA tool and it''s good. I also bought an Aset scope and an Ideal scope so that I can check out the diamond and it'' looks good (I''ve been practicing using my Ideal scope with other diamonds).

I''m sorry I can''t comment on your diamond but I just wanted to say that I agree with you that a nice diamond is a nice diamond, it doesn''t matter to anyone else WHERE you got it or HOW MUCH you paid for it as long as you are happy with your purchase and got a fair deal. I, along with some of the others who have mentioned this, was very taken back by some of the comments the OP received to his questions. He just wanted help, not criticism about where he chose to shop. Although many posters on here herald the online vendors, I know many people who would "not want to say" they got their diamonds online and instead want Tiffanys or HW or Cartier. So, different strokes for different folks and I''m sure your FI will be THRILLED at getting such a nice diamond, regardless of where you got it! Take care & please do update us with pictures once it''s set!

I ran the numbers through the cut advisor and it comes out with a 2.4 score with a "worth buying if the price is right" -- hopefully the price was right!!!

Not that you will want to return your diamond but I did just come across this one from James Allen which is like way less cash -- bigger, cleaner -- clean clean and white hot for a little more than $32,000 -- any thoughts that you might still consider shopping online?!?!?!

Can you send me the link to the diamond from JA that you said is bigger, cleaner and cheaper? I still have time to return the diamond.

Anna0499, thanks for your support.

From James Allen:
This might be the one? Here are basic specs: H, VS1, 2.52cts, Ideal, GIA and $31,880

Another Basic Specs: H, SI1, Premium Cut, GIA, 2.78cts and $32,000

ETA: This one sounds really nice providing its eyeclean: link Specs:G, SI1, Ideal, 3cts, AGS, $42,960

And this one is smaller, but still sounds pretty fantastic: link Specs: G, VS1, Ideal, GIA, 2.5cts, $40,960

Kim, it looks like this diamond could be absolutely fine - congratulations!!!

Freke, for the G VS above, we would need an Idealscope image for that one, as it has a shallow pavilion angle at 40.2.
1.gif
With the H SI we would need the crown and pavilion angles to judge the cut, the 2.52 appears to fall into what we call steep deep territory with the crown and pavilion angles, so we would need an Idealscope image also.

I don't believe that is the case, the regulars on Rocky Talk work hard to help those who need advice and I think they do a great job, especially seeing how happy many new posters are with the help offered, and how grateful they are...

I think we do try hard, and each post is on an individual basis. I try to see where the poster is coming from and respond appropriately. kimo did indeed ask for help initially, but that last post clearly was not asking for opinions. It was a very definitive statement, and I was not about to try and change his mind, or make him question his diamond. He felt he got a fair price, had an IA look at it, and seemed pleased. I respected that.
