Hi Everyone! Love the site and I really need help about the ring I want. We have looked at rings before, and we are not exactly there yet in our relationship for him to pop the question, but I fear my taste is too big for his budget do to some of our talks, but he does not want me disappointed. Of course I will say yes no matter what, but I just want some help finding one less expensive. I have fallen in love with an AMAZING tacori ring. I really want a radiant cut, and after trying them on, I love them anymore. I have tried to fall in love with others, but my heart is set on a ring like it. I just know I want pave diamonds on all three sides, etc. Any ideas on what we should do, and where to look for rings like tacoris but less expensive, and maybe getting one custom made?? THANK YOU!

Can you ballpark budget? And are the step cuts on the shank negotiable?

And, another option is spending total $$ on the center, and re-setting later... or paying for anything that is over his budget yourself.

Start out with the stone. Set it in a simple classic YG or WG setting that you can live with for a while. Work toward your dream setting.

That''s what others here have done.

Sank their ring buying dollars into the stone and let the dream setting come later.

Puts less pressure on your guy. Saves him from possibly going into debt right off the bat. And makes for a heck of a Wedding or Anniversary gift down the road.

Ditto.

That is a beautiful setting, but very elaborate. I agree that you should spend the majority of money on your stone, and get a simple setting now. You can reset the ring for an anniversary. The other thing is that you may be able to present this picture to a jeweler who could make the ring for less money. Perhaps you can alter the ring a bit to make it less elaborate, and reduce your costs. Good luck. I love radiants too, and just purchased one for my 20th anniversary. I will advise you to look at many radiants before making a choice on one. The numbers may look good on paper, but you really need to see them prior to purchase. I looked at many that had respectable numbers, and they had bowties, or large dead spots. Joy

I am a little confused with the ring you posted. It has an EC in it, not a radiant. So you want that setting, but with a radiant in it?

Also, you said you wanted 3 sided pave, which that ring does not have.

Talk to him about his budget, believe me you''ll be talking about money soon enough anyways. That was really hard for me, but I''m glad I did b/c I had no idea what my fiance was thinking about spending. This way you can "pre-shop" with his budget in mind and then when you take him to a jewelry store raving about something he''ll feel good because he''ll be able to get it for you. (I do this all the time).

Thank you all for some help ... I am not really sure what his budget is but I will post again once I find out. I do not have to have ECuts on the side, I honestly would rather just have like I said pave diamonds on all 3 sides. When I looked at a website to purchase the tacori ring and wedding ring it was almost $17000 without the center stone, and it said it was a radiant. But like I said before, I feel in love with radiants when we have been in jewelry stores before, and he knows that is where my heart is. The cuts are just beautiful and capture my breath. I know he would not want to spend more then $10 on the ring, and with the tacori I have pictured, it would be like $25. Does anyone know of some good places that are more reasonable to custom design rings??

Also, I see many people mentioned to upgrade, and I told him that today and he has said that all along, but to me, it just seems hard for me to part with the ring that I first got, so I guess that is why I want the big one from the get go! Oh and should I mention I have a tiny hand and a size 4.5 finger??!

Radiants fortunately are quite affordable right now. 7K might just get you a really nice G-H SI1 (have to careful with radiants, they are cuts that capture color)

What about something like this? I''m sure it could be modified to include pave on all three sides. Plus, the price is great:

Radiant Art Deco

Ooh! This is similar, and can obviously be made for a radiant:

Johanne

Oh... and Richard Landi (YUM)... GOG carries them. YUM!

Thanks .. EBree ... that Johanne is GORGEOUS!!!!!! If it had a Halo around it I would say that is the RING!!!! And this is not about diamonds, but I have a black pug, and that picture of yours is precious!! I will deff. be showing him that!!

YA KNOW? It occurs to me that Tacori will Modify thier settings. Can you email a vendor that carries them (hmm... stumped there) and ask them to qoute you that EXACT ring... exept with only TWO of the step cuts on each side...rest engraved metal? I bet that would significantly reduce the price of the setting. As for the wedding band... is your wedding really soon... if not I''d wait for that one. And save up.

Goodoldgold is the only Pricescope vendor who carries them I think. But definitely worth a call for a quote on the stone and setting. tacori is VERY expensive though and gypsy could be on to something about taking the elements you like and having someone like Maytal give you a guote too.

How far off are you from being to a place where he would pop the question? I ask because if it is very far off you may be jumping the gun a bit as diamond prices (and metal prices) fluctuate (unfortunately it seems up more lately than down). It is totally understandable to be excited, but if an engagement is like a year off you may be better off just browsing and getting an idea of what you like, and then get more specific when you guys have actually had ''the talks'' you refer to above, or have reached a point where you are seriously considering purchasing. While browsing you will get a good idea of designers you like and styles you like so you will be ready when the time comes!

Another pug owner! Aren''t they great little dogs? I just love mine. Her name is Sally, and she''s almost 3 years old. She''s actually Pricescoping with me right now.

Regarding the ring, if you contact Knox, I bet they can add a halo. It''d be a custom job, but from what I''ve seen and heard, their prices are excellent! Definitely worth a call to ask. Keep us updated!
