$1M worth of jewels stolen from Cannes film festival

Apparently there have been multiple jewelry heists over the past several years...imagine if it's the same individual/group doing the stealing -- I could see a movie developing from it a la Catch Me if You Can!

wow- something seems off there, doesn't it? Why would a Chopard employee stay in a so-so hotel and keep over 1 million dollars worth of jewelry in their ROOM safe??!! And since the safe wasn't just opened- but taken out of the wall- someone had to know what was in there. Sounds like an inside job...

Sounds like a lack of common sense. Most of us question even leaving a ring or a pair of earrings in a room safe...now, a million dollars worth...shouldn't that be put in a bank vault?!

+1!!! I have never done this but at many high end hotels they have heavy duty vaults that only certain people can have access too. If you have high dollar jewels or something similar that can fit in I know you can request access to the safe. My brother used to work as a manager in one of them and he always had stories for people asking to put stuff in.
