Hello and welcome! :)

This sounds like a really lovely diamond to me, from the numbers you have posted!

E VVS2 is amazingly high colour & clarity - are you set on these, or have you perhaps considered dropping to maybe an F VS2 and going slightly bigger in size for the same budget?

I only mention it as with the naked eye you would probably be very hard pushed to see any discernible difference between an E VVS2 and and F VS2.

Great diamond though!

Hi Ducks!

Have you actually seen this diamond and love it? The table is a bit larger than those we normally see around here, but some do like that look. Or is it with an online vendor? If so, see if you can get an Idealscope image, as that would be very useful, some vendors can supply these. Also as Cleo mentions, unless you have a preference for very high colour and clarity, you could drop a bit and still have a very clean, white diamond, if the cut is good.

i purchased it online at bn, scheduled for delivery tomorrow.

i opted for the higher color/clarity since itll be a once in a lifetime purchase (engagement). im sure a larger size ct may be in the future, but my only criteria was 1ct for this purchase. i had it set in a 4prong plat. solitaire. cant wait to see it.

any recommendations as to what i should do once i receive it (before proposing).. appraisal? bn has a 30day return policy and i want to make sure everythings good2go.

thanks!

i didnt have access to the ideal-scope/gemadviser

but before i purchased it, i did enter the dimensions into the HCA advisor and the reading came out ''excellent''

Factor Grade
Light Return Excellent
Fire Excellent
Scintillation Excellent
Spread
or diameter for weight Excellent
Total Visual Performance 1.2 - Excellent
within TIC range

You realize that some of the other vendors such as WhiteFlash and Good Old Gold have lifetime trade-in policies, right (BN does not)?

Stones with GIA and AGS certs have already been independently assessed, so I personally wouldn''t worry about another appraisal. I would insure for the purchase price. But I would find someone to verify that the stone is indeed the one on the cert.

yah, i browsed wf and gog, but ended up ordering through bn. my fiance-to-be is the sentimental type, so i dont think she''ll ever consider "trading" up. can any jeweler verify the stone is indeed the one matching the cert? or should i find a specialized jeweler? ive done much research online about the diamond, but dont know much about the jewelers at b&m shops.. the ones ive gone to have left a bad taste in my mouth, but thats another story in and of itself.

I have taken diamonds to two local jewelers who I know do appraisals and asked them to verify that stones matched the certs (not my GOG or WF stones). One did it at no charge and I did pay the other about $25 or $30. Just go to a higher end store that has a gemologist on staff.

thanks. i know they can''t really weigh the diamond when its already been set.

what can they actually measure/evaluate while the diamond is on the setting?
