18kt gold with platinum?

Now that I''ve graduated and am actually making some cashola, I am saving for a new diamond band. I like the WF dome ring but it is only listed as 18kt gold. My 5 stone band is platinum, so I''m guessing that it wouldn''t be wise to pair these two metals together?

What do you think?

If you do a quick searh you will find lots of threads on this topic. From what I can remember, it''s not a good idea to mix the two metals as plat is softer (don''t quote me, straining the brain here ) and they will rub away at each other.

Probably best to stick to the same metal for looks too, plat will develop a nice patina that wgold won''t, and they will likely look different after a while.
