Hi, I'm Smith1940 but deleted my account months ago due to overuse of Pricescope, and now am back after a break!

Today, I got the most unbelievable bargain in E.B. Horn in Boston. They have a great pre-loved Tiffany section, and they are highly reputable in Boston - been there since the 1800s, so you know it's real. You can tell, anyway. I got an 18k yellow gold Tiffany Etoile ring, which retails for $2,100 plus tax...and mine was $635.00 plus tax!

I've taken a bunch of lovely, lovely photos....but my dear husband, for the second time this year, has thrown the camera cable away! [Edit: I found it! See below for pics!] So frustrated. I'll probably be able to get another tomorrow. In the meantime, here's the link:

http://www.tiffany.com/Shopping/item.aspx?mcat=&sku=GRP00006&selectedsku=12040741&cid=&search=1&search_params=s+1-p+2-c+-r+-x+-n+6-ri+-ni+0-t+Etoile&fromgrid=1#p+1-n+6-cg+viewPaged-c+-s+1-r+-t+Etoile-ri+-ni+0-x+-pu+-f+

God, that's a long link. No idea why - sorry.

Anyway, there was another Etoile ring right next to it in the box priced at about $1,200, whereas mine was $630. The assistant said the more expensive one had the platinum tubing round the diamonds. But when she was ringing mine up, she said "Wait! This one has the tubing too." We looked on the inside, and sure enough it says "PLAT". We looked at each other for a long moment. "You are getting a STEAL", she says. Hurrah! I really can't believe the luck I have every time I go in there.

:wavey: Welcome back!!! How are things??? Love this new ring - its a BEAUTY and such a DEAL of the century - lucky YOU!!!!

So === spill=== what's new?? :bigsmile:

Re: Tiffany Etoile Ring at Great Price, Link unable to post

Oh, nothing's new really, just that my husband and I are starting to believe all this stuff about 2012 and the Mayan calendar, because everyone we know has had such a terrible year. We got off very lightly with a job loss and a minor illness, although it lasted a few months. My poor cousin (like a sister), her father died last week, her mother has a cancer op four days after the funeral, and her husband needs brain surgery. I'm going back to England to support her and attend the funeral. I know others with very sick babies, someone who had an accident with a fork-lift truck and ruined his legs...the list goes on. I don't know anyone who's had a nice year.

So really, the only thing to do is buy some jewellery when you can (and when it's a deal!)

What about you? What's new with you, Enerchi?

Enerchi - forgot to add that my mum had a minor slip eight months ago on a patch of water at a garden centre. She didn't even hit the ground but really hurt herself and is still not healed, so she's having a bunch of tests too. I don't think it's serious but her mobility has fallen greatly. The first test showed minor fractures in her pelvis (just from slipping, not actually hitting the ground.) So it really hasn't been a fun year for anyone. But I will see all my cousins and my other aunts and uncles at the funeral, which will be nice. V. sad about the uncle who passed away though. He was quite a character - a prison governor with a sense of humour!

Re: Tiffany Etoile Ring at Great Price, Link unable to post

oh MY!! I'm so sorry Smith! That's quite the year... I hope it picks up - that's so discouraging to be faced with such adversity at every turn. And your Mom - YOW-ch! Holy cow, it can only get better - my fingers are crossed for you and blowing some good luck PS dust your way (DUST DUST DUST!!!) poooooof!

What a wonderful friend you are, to be there for her - I'm sure she will be so appreciative of your support, to ease her thru such a TERRIBLE time! YIKES

Um... I've had a pretty good few months lately! Had a fantastic NYC trip with my DH, even tho it was during Hurricane Sandy, and just back from a wonderful 5 days in Las Vegas - just my middle son and I! It was a fantastic trip and made that much more special because I could spend quality 'alone/mom time' with him, and, see LV thru the eyes of a first time visitor!!

LOVE your new trinket!

Yes, I've actually offered to clean my cousin's house and do her laundry, and offered to clean mum's, and also my sister's too, since she has a million children and does paid work too. Everyone is having such a difficult time.

But I will be sure to take my DARLING new ring off when I clean! Can you believe that bargain? I mean, I just cannot believe my luck.

I've also got an amazing diamond cross and a princess-cut diamond eternity ring to post, both from E.B. Horn :naughty:

Re: 18k Yellow Gold Tiffany Etoile Ring at Amazing Price!

Wow, what a deal. I bought one on ebay for 1k a few months ago. I ended up returning it but it was so comfortable and such a perfect yellow color. My fiance decided he liked the eternity band better.

Enerchi, guess what? I bought a bunch more stuff from Whiteflash and Brian Gavin Diamonds. Do you remember my DBTY rose gold necklace from BGD and my sapphires-by-the-yard necklace from Whiteflash? Well, I bought a matching rose gold DBTY bracelet from BGD, a matching sapphires-by-the yard bracelet from Whiteflash, some huge bezel sapphire studs from Whiteflash, and some 0.30 ctw baby bezels in white gold, also from Whiteflash. And I also got a rose-gold mini bow necklace from Tiffany.

Trouble is, I fly to England the day after tomorrow and I really have a million things to do before I go - including taking a BUNCH of Chrsitmas presents for the kids, some of which aren't purchased yet! So I won't be able to photograph any of it tillI get back, Dec 11th! But I will have a bonanza, I promise - I'll post all those and my diamond cross and princess eternity!

Going back to this ring, do you remember my rose gold scatter ring? Same style as this one, but in brushed rose gold? When I hold this Tiffany one next to it, there is no comparison. The diamonds are a million times better in the Tiffany one. Much bigger, brighter, sparklier. And they cost the same! I don't like my rose one as much now!!

Nonie - perhaps you could get another etoile ring preloved one day as a right-hand ring? :naughty:

I agree with you about how comfortable it is. The rose gold one I had made by E.B. Horn is not as comfortable. It's interesting how we all think Tiff is so overpriced - and this ring certainly is - but when you hold it against a non-Tiffany version, they are worlds apart. At least, that's the case with this particular design. I don't mean to criticise my custom rose gold one, which I have loved a lot, but this Tiffany one is outstanding when you compare.

Gorgeous! What a steal!

I know. I think I must be dreaming!

You know, in the last few weeks I have pulled the house apart, had the biggest clear-out throwing out all extraneous matter, and then once all the crap was gone I spring-cleaned top to bottom. I shampooed carpets, got the fridge out and hoovered the fridge filter, moved all the furniture and hoovered underneath, hoovered all the sofas and chairs all over, mopped and dusted everything in sight, cleaned blinds, polished all the wood, laundered duvets and pillows as well as the linen, categorised 1,200 books, lay facedown in the dirt to get the hoover attachments under immovable furniture, shifted 40 random planks of wood, carried furniture to the basement, and more. I hurt my shoulder and a few fingers. Now, I'm not complaining, but my husband is not the type to ever buy jewellery. My last thing was my engagement ring eight years ago. This means that I buy my own stuff and therefore, it's all stuff I love (he's into "surprises" and doesn't really have the same taste as me).

And today, I think the Housework Gods and the Jewellery Gods all got together and had a meeting. I think they said, "What treasure can we bestow upon Smith for all that hard work?" And this is it! :appl: Seriously, I've been lusting after a yellow gold scatter ring. It didn't even have to be Tiffany!

That is beautiful!!! And I LOVE great deals on Tiffany pieces! I have picked up a couple and am very happy with the items and the prices!

Where do you find your pieces, DS? The only place I know is E.B. Horn, which has a lovely selection. At the moment in the Tiffany section they have an emerald-cut ring with baguette sides, and heart diamond studs, and a heart diamond necklace. All are really decent sizes, too. Totally out of my league, but if I win the lottery...

Thanks, DS! The yellow gold is such a deep buttery colour. I wear a lot of black and navy tops, and I think the rich hue will look nice against those.

Exactly what I was going to say (except said in such a more charming way!).

Looking forward to seeing your treasures when you're back. Your DBTY inspired me to get one which I LOVE so thank you!

Fantastic find! Enjoy!

Hey! Welcome back to the club! I'm sorry things haven't been working out for you and yours. Many thoughts and prayers go to your family during this rough time. But you got an amazing deal on a beautiful ring! Congrats on that!

Score! Nicely done. Enjoy it!

Thanks everyone! And Enerchi, no, I don't think I'm going to sell the rose gold one. I still like it. Just looks a bit ordinary next to the Tiffany one!

There is nothing better than buying a great piece of jewelry for a great deal! Congrats! Now if I could just learn how...
