18k tacori ugh!!!

I posted this a while back and I just had to complain and warn people again. I bought an 18k white gold ring from tacori that was very expensive, and the ring turns yellow within about a month after getting it re-rhodiumed (is that how you spell that) I know that certain people react to certain metals, but this is crazy! At the time the cost of platinum was outragous and out of the question for me. I was even told by the company that their white gold would remain white for a while. I understand that white gold can turn yellow and I was prepared for this, but not after a month. I was expecting 6 months at the worst. If you are planning on buying a white gold tacori ring I would reconsider. It is a shame because the ring is beautiful otherwise.

Honestly, it depends on the wearer completely...some people need to get it done every 3 years some every 3 months. Also, just a question, but does she clean with her ring on? Using ammonia or bleach? That can easily wear away the rhodium FAST.

She uses soap and water. This was recommended by the jeweler. She also gets it cleaned at the jeweler, They use that sonic method? Not sure what it is. Thank God cleaning and redipping is free for us at our jeweler!

It has to do with body chemistry. Does she have other white gold rings that she wears daily? Have those started to yellow?

Well that''s good at least! But what I meant was household cleaning because often women wear their rings while cleaning and don''t realize that ammonia, etc. can wear down the rhodium quickly.

That is a fault of 18k gold for some people not a tacori fault.
Now you know to only get plat or Palladium for her or one of the X1 type white gold alloys.

The white gold that tacori uses is mixed with palladium. With this should the ring still turn yellow so quickly. I was under the impression that it was white gold with nickel that turned yellow on some people.

It''s not the manufactor, it''s her body. White turns yellow on my mother very quickly. Watch batteries also die very quickly when she wears them, funnily enough. What is your partner planning on doing for a wedding band?

18k White gold other than the X1 type(and even some of them are just not as much) are yellowish white.
The old high nickel white gold is among the whitest of white gold only being surpassed by the X1 type alloys.
It is no longer used because of the long term danger of developing allergic reactions.

I agree that its probably her body chemistry. I have had a couple of white gold rings from different vendors and they haven''t changed colour. My husband has a white gold wedding band and his changed after a year of very hard wear. He never takes it off. I find Whiteflash white gold to be great for rings. My ring is still white after 6 months.

I agree with the body chemisty being what is changing the ring. My right hand white gold ring turns pretty quickly within about 3 months if I wear it every day. That said, I used to wear it to the gym and it would turn in about a month. Not sure why, maybe the sweat had something to do with it. Either way, I''m starting to feel bad for Tacori cause they have been getting ripped apart latley. I''m obviously biased because I have one but really if you got a tiff 18k white gold ring it would probably turn just as fast.

I am really lucky, I guess, I started wearing white gold about 4-5 years ago and none of the pieces I bought during that time have ever turned on me. However, in a crowd of 10,000, a mosquito will find me and eat me alive and not bite anyone else. I think it all has to do with body chemistry. Someone once told me I must have acidic skin. Whatever that means.

When I upgraded to a Tacori set, I opted for platinum just to be on the safe side. But for a time, it was so much more expensive than white gold. I guess the price went down lately.
