for stud earrings, would 14kt eventually change color and become more yellow over time. which would be preferred?? i was looking at whiteflash''s website and their ready to go studs for the 3-prong martini is not available in platinum.

Call them up and ask them if they have the martini''s RSG in platinum. See if they can do this for you.

I have diamond studs in WG and they have not yellowed (they are 4-5 years old). I had a ring that started to yellow a bit over time. I think b/c it actually touches my skin (your body chemstry is what turns WG yellow) the prongs on your earrings will barely touch skin (maybe your fingers from time to time) I can''t imagine it would be a problem.

I got the 14k for my studs. It is unlikely that they''ll yellow, but if they ever did, you''d just get them rhodium plated.

FWIW, I have a pair of martini studs from WF in WG, and they haven''t yellowed at all. Had them for a year now.

I wouldn''t spend the extra $ for plat earrings. Like the others said, just get them plated again if they do change. I''m definitely getting WG when I get new studs..

I had white gold and had to switch it because it turned so fast, even in studs. I won''t buy white gold anymore. I don''t think it agrees with my body chemistry. My white gold studs kept getting my ears infected. So it depends on the person.

If you can afford it, I would go with platinum. You can''t go wrong with platinum. Allergy wise and never needs to be plated.
