Ladies...your thoughts. Am I mad?
If you've read my other one or two posts, you know my story of bad jewelers and rings that don't fit, and that I've been looking to replace a Whitney Boin band and a largish solitaire with something more antique and delicate and sparkly that also doesn't get in my way day-to-day. All my searches for the last two years online always end up at Single Stone where I veritably weep for the beauty of their sparkling creations. I've bought a few small rings on eBay and from I. D. Jewelry to tide me over but always felt they were placeholders instead of something that I wanted as a forever piece.
This is our 10th anniversary (yay!) and we also had a couple of major events (new baby in January, and I finished a pretty major graduate degree in May), so finally I thought, why not? So I approached my husband and told him what I really thought I wanted after years of searching, and he turned pale at the price, but said "go for it, love."
So after many, many lovely photo-filled kind and patient emails with Heather at Single Stone, the package landed today with the two rings I chose for (in my eyes) their uniqueness and beauty. They are not "matchy" but I find that appealing, and they are sparkly without being too enormous for my working-musician hands. The OECs in the larger band are throwing off the little rainbows that my heart has been longing for since I was a tiny child and first given a prism. The little baguettes are a totally unique look to me (and I picked it partially because my husband commented on it during my search that he liked the look of it), and the milgrain really does look like it would take tiny fairies to make it that delicate! I really like the stacking look, but my fingers are definitely not long enough for more than two stacking bands (unfortunately!).
The only thing that might get added to this stack someday would be a Single Stone recut to OEC and resetting of the solitaire in a few years (I hope!).
I have a couple of days to decide if they are right for me or not though every time I look down at my hand my breath catches.
This is a major, major, expense for our little household. Please let me know what you think!
