I've been reading the forums for a while now, so I think I'm ready to post what I'm looking for. Thank you in advance to all who help me. Any comments on my parameters would also be appreciated if you think I should modify them!

My budget is $10k for the band + stone, but I could go up to $12k if I found an offer that I cannot refuse. I am mostly looking for a princess, but would settle for a round (problem being the hit I'd have to take in size/quality to get a round). Cushions are another option, but I'm very picky about them. I am having a hard time staying within my budget doing my own searching.

The big ones:
Cut - Excellent/Ideal, no Very Good
Color - I or better (no yellow tint though)
Clarity - SI1 or better (as long as it's eye clean and inclusions aren't detrimental to the diamond's structure)
Carat - As big as possible given my other requirements
Fluorescence - Faint or none

Other preferences:
Closed cutlet (maybe a small open cutlet)
Girdle - Thin, medium, to slightly thick
I don't really understand symmetry (https://www.pricescope.com/wiki/diamonds/diamond-symmetry)
I'm open to suggestions about Polish/Table/Depth.

Round - l/w ratio as close to 1 as possible
http://www.questjewelers.com/index.php?page=diamonds&action=detail&id=225&number=2Q72409412

Princess - l/w ratio as close to 1 as possible
I like the facet pattern here https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/new-camera-lots-of-pictures.53106/
Some stones I found in my own searching:

Cushion - chunky (no crushed ice), halo setting only, l/w ratio 1 - 1.13
I like https://www.pricescope.com/community/threads/chunky-chunky.81292/
Not sure about this one - http://www.engagementringsdirect.co...-cushion-cut-diamond-bcgid-61483-14-ring.html

1.8mm - 2mm thick bands
Round/Princess (pave or micropave)
My favorite band I've seen - http://www.ascotdiamonds.com/engagement.aspx?PieceId=J6149
http://questjewelers.com/index.php?...il&pID=1073&category=20&startRow=15&metalType

Cushion (halo pave)

Please let me know if you need further clarification...I think I included way more than most people would care to know :)

Hello and welcome!

Well, first things first, you should definitely nail down what shape you are looking for. There is going to be a big price difference between RB's/princesses/cushions. RB's carry the largest premium. They are also all very different personalities....Once you clarify this then we can really start to help you with options!!!

If I had to choose, it would be princess just because I know I won't get as much bang for my buck with round or cushion (due to the halo setting).

I don't think it is wide as stated, you could call GOG as well, they carry a lot of designers that would have something that would match your wants I'm sure. If you are interested in the diamond I would place it on hold.

that diamond is awesome and GOG carries a lot of pave settings...so I would call them and ask about a pave setting similar to the one you posted.

Yes!! Beautiful stone!

So two people now have posted diamonds that are signature cuts like "A Cut Above" from whiteflash. Are they worth the price jump or should I get a bigger diamond instead? Both that and the Brian Gavin one have really nice ASETs, symmetry, etc.

IMO-definitely worth it. unless you can find an AGS0 stone. otherwise you just do not know about the cut quality.

This person just bought a beautiful princess cut from GOG in a great looking setting a couple of weeks ago.
