Apart from your personal preferences it depends if making that jump to get a full carat is worth it to you or not.

Sorry, so are you saying that the cheaper rock is the larger J? Or that the cheaper rock is the smaller H?

Hmmm, I actually confused myself when I reread my own question, go figure. No more late posts. I was comparing too many diamonds doing a search.....

I should have asked " is it worth 1000 to go from .91 to 1.014 with all else being equal? cut, fire, etc, etc. The 1000 seemed a significant increase for .10 increase in size but then again it gets a person to the "magical 1 carat" mark.

I slept on it and answered my own question.....I think not. I saw the "hand size spread" thread on Helpful Threads and the coverage on the finger is only 1% greater for the .10 size increase. Cant see that being worth 1000 more. I think it is the mental thought of having "one carat" which sounds better than "almost one carat".

I would rather spend the 1000 savings on extra pave diamonds for the setting and/or sprucing up the design of the prongs. Just my opinion.

BTW, since I started this thread regarding color.....I watched that 20 minute Color Video Demonstration located on Helpful Threads.....great informative video. I recommend it for any newbie.

Rick I have to agree with your assessment. I would not pay an extra $1000 for such a small increase.
