No idea about diamonds/rings...I have a setting picked out for 5000 and need a solid sized diamond for the middle (3 stone ring)..I would rather have size than quality..what can I get for about 10,000$??? please help Im hopeless

Go down in color and clarity but not cut.

Good cut is what makes a diamond look beautiful.

Perhaps look near J and eye-clean SI2 for starters.

If you can swing 11K here is a 2 carat K SI2:

so you are looking for $10,000 JUST for the Center correct? how low are you comfortable in terms of Color?

And what are the specs for the side stones?

haha I just want a good lookin diamond for the 3 stone..the band has diamonds throughout and the side stones are emerald cut each .5 karat..sorry I dont know what half of the stuff yall are talking about means..like I said I''m hopeless with this stuff

The side stones will have a color and clarity grade. Matching that is important.

Ahh true I should''ve thought of that..Im just trying to make sure I dont get bent over by the Jewler

Seriously- If you have not bought anything yet, I''d suggest not buying the ring and center diamond separately.
If you work with one seller, they should be able to match the sides and center.

In terms of what you can get for $10k, quite a lot actually.
Many around here are "cut fanatics"- as am I- however exactly what constitutes a great cut is open for interpretation.
For example, the difference in some of the ratings such as "Polish" and "Symmetry" may affect the price, but not be visible to you, or your intended.

There''s alot of places to "cut corners" to increase the size of the diamond- and many don;t really involve a lot of things that can be seen with the naked eye.
If we compare an E/VVS2 with a n eye clean I/SI2, many observers won''t really see why the E might be 3 times the cost of the I color.

Best of luck!!

I hear you but it is all coming from the same place so sounds good..thanks for all the help

ok,,, lets start with the basics. I would recommend you taking a tutorial on diamonds and the basics. Found here http://diamonds.pricescope.com/

see if you can go down the columns hope this helps.

You need to find out the clarity and color of the emerald-cut side stones.
A 3-stone ring will look goofy if the center stone is too different from the side stones.

Do you want your center stone to be emerald-cut also? or some other cut?
Help us out here.

Yes I want emerald cut for center stone

Hi Andy

I just wanted to check do you have actual emerald cut diamonds in mind for side stones, or similarly shaped baguettes? These are often found in side stones more than EC''s so just wanted to clarify in case.

Trapezoid accents look really good with emerald cut center stones...

Baahahaha! We hear ya Andy...we have a step cut expert here (although I dont think he likes to be
called that). His name is Carl, or Storm or is it strm? Hopefully, once you find out the stats on your
side stones he/PS can help you find an emerald cut stone that will suit your bill.
