Hi!
I just put a pair of diamonds on reserve at Whiteflash for my earrings.
I''m going to buy them later this morning.
I''ll post the specs later as I have to go out now to my son''s school to volunteer.
I''m VERY nervous! I''m sure this is the biggest birthday present I''m ever going to get. I hope all goes smoothly.
I''m thinking of putting them in white gold (though I''m a little afraid of allergies) but I''m thinking of going with four-prong baskets, not martinis. I read (on these forums) something about martinis being prone to stretch the ears.
Since I am a 51 year old lady (these are a 51st birthday present) I don''t want anything that MIGHT stretch my earlobes. I figure I have just so much time to have decent looking ear holes and ears anyway and don''t want to accelerate the inevitable.
Thoughts or advice anyone.
Thanks.

Holy moly, how big are they? I can''t wait to see them.

I''m a bit unsure about martinis too, especially with larger sized stones, I just have thoughts of them ''hanging'' by the bottom of the basket.

HI:

This subject--earring setting--has been very well covered on these boards. Do a search and you will find as much reading as uyou can stand!

Congrats on your earrings. I have 2.12 ctw in martinis and love them. No stretching.... falling forward, etc....(not that I remember to wear them much

Wow I can''t wait to hear the specs they sound like they are going to be huge. You deserve it. Happy Birthday!!

Can't wait to see them! I've been wearing my martini's a year (almost every day), no stretching. But go with what makes you most comfortable!

I didn''t go with huge, exactly. But I think they will be way big enough for me.

I appreciate everyone''s help so much from this forum.

At Whiteflash, I have been working with Katie. she is so great!

I am sure that some think that I went with an unnecessary high quality for earrings I know I could have done bigger, 2.25 tcw or more if I went with lower color and SI1 or even SI2 or I1. I have seen very beautiful studs and other articles of jewelry on this forum in J, K, or even L or M colors which looked very white and gorgeous and I am sure that no one is going to be right up next to my ear checking. But I guess I am just an obsessive compulsive sort of person about certain things. I knew I would keep apologizing and explaining about the quality if I went with different specs. And I didn''t want to be doing that with my husband''s special present.

I also had the thought at the back of my mind that one day I might want to leave these to my sons and I wanted a quality that could go in a ring, if I did that, since each would get just one (and the third son would get my anniversary ring).

And I really think 1.80ctw is enough for me! The diamond studs I already have, which my sweetie gave me when we were married just a year, are .10 carat tw, .05 each (in an 80''s buttercup setting). I still wear them now all the time. So what I am getting is more than 10X as large! And I have to say, I don''t think .90 carat for a diamond, in general, is exactly SMALL.

Thanks again everyone.

Did you post the stats for the same diamond twice? they are identical.

But the IS pics look fab! And that size will be more than enough.
