Hello all!

So I have finally decided on getting a 1.75 RB diamond as the center diamond for an engagement ring. The entire band is going to be small round diamonds (either 5 point or 7 point)... all the way around the band. They are in a shared prong setting (platinum)

Would the 7 point diamonds on the band make the 1.75 center diamond look smaller?? should we go with 5 point?

Does anyone have a picture of a similar ring for comparison by any chance??

Thanks yall!!!

I have a 1.7ct diamond in a solitaire and I wear it with a half eternity that has 5pt. diamonds. This picture should give you an idea of the size. I also own a half eternity with 8pt. diamonds, if I can I will take a picture for you.

A band with 5pt. diamonds is about 2.3mm wide, whereas a band with 8pt. diamonds will be closer to 3m. If you want the center stone to look larger, go with the 5pt. diamond. No doubt a thinner band makes the center look bigger.

My center stone is 1.73 and I have 10 pointers in the shared prong band. I think you would be fine with the larger stones...

I imagine there is quite a groove in the side of your engagemnet ring DD from the diamonds in your shared prong ring?

Honestly, if you want the centrestone to look its largest, a plain thin half-round band is the way to go, no melee at all..

hee hee Garry, you comment on this issue whenever you see this style, you much really hate to see a solitaire scratched! 8) I have only been wearing them together for about 3 months, and I wear my e-ring the same way each day to minimize the damage to visible parts of the ring, but yes there is a mark where the diamond girdles hit the metal. I am ok with that, I knew it would happen when I chose this style, and it is a temp setting anyways.

But thank you for asking! ::)

Word!

I also think the 5 pointers are the way to go if you're wanting the center stone to look the largest. Dreamer's pic is a great illustration of proportion there, and I think it's perfect with 5 points for a 1.75 ct center.

Thanks everyone for the amazing advice!!!

Dreamer -- do you have a pic of your solitaire next to the 10 pointers? Would be curious to see!!

Thanks!

Dreamer - I meant 8 point!

Hi
I would go with the .5s to make the center pop.
I have a 2.50 center on a shared prong eternity band that has .4s and I really love it. IMHO they are not so small that I feel they don't carry their weight so to speak but they are not so big that I feel they take away from my center which I really did not want.

If you search me you can find some pictures of my ring to get an idea of what the .4s look like.

Congrats!

I will try to take one tomorrow! :))

I have a 1.58 ct center stone with 2 pointers all around the band (except for the euroshank), made by BGD. I love how the 2 pointers make the center stone pop! The picture does not do justice to the ring but you can get an idea of the side of the melee.

Thanks SO MUCH everyone for your advice!!

I still would love love love to see more pictures if anyone has any that include a 1.5 - 2 ct center stone and then 5 to 7 pt stones on the band. Thanks a lot if anyone has any they can post!!
