1.51 F/VS2 or 1.70 H/VS2 Super Ideals... what to choose?

So this is where im at now.. I think I'm leaning towards the 1.7 as in a WF ACA or a GOG Superior I believe the difference in color 95% of the time wont be much... but the size difference is significant. I feel if I get the 1.5 I'll always be thinking 'shoulda got the bigger one' whereas at 1.7ct the upgrade to 2.1-2.3 is so much I dont think I'll go there.. (for at least 5years)!!!

Hers is a size 4.25 but she is a bit color sensitive.. thoughts? has anyone else gone through this?

If she is color sensitive, I would stick with H and above.

Yeh its def. gonna be H minimum... just deciding between H and F... I is toooooo far warm!

Will be in a simple mounting.

Actually found a 1.69 G/VS1... GOG superior which might be worth looking at.. kinda best of both worlds.. for $1k more than the H/VS2.. hmmm its creepy up there again ($$$)

I am probably not a good one for your budget then. I prefer an F myself. My first e-ring was an F and my upgrade was an F, both GIA. To my eyes, D-F have color. I just see more bluish, silvery sparkles in D-F and more other colored sparkles in an H. And I know everyone says if you look at the stone top down you don't see tint with an H. I don't like seeing tint even from the side.

Factoring budget into the decision, a G is a great compromise between an H and an F. I have a G stud inan earring to match a F stud. White enough for these purposes. But know that more people on PS would be willing to go lower in color to get a better cut or bigger size.

Your budget is definitely creeping up! I'd go with G to compromise if you aren't sure about H. What about this one? I like the look of it better than the 1.69 G assuming it is completely eyeclean.

Thanks for that.. actually that looks like a VS on the table.. just around the sides looks like small inclusions.. which I'd be fine with. Hmmmmmm... dont u think G is so middle ground?I guess that diamond is right on middle... between 1.5 and 1.7... and between F and H... could be a solid compromise actually.. I'll enquire.. thanks!

How about WF vs GOG Superior.. any MAJOR differences?

G SI1 is my sweet spot for modern cut stones for engagement rings. My engagement ring is a G SI1 - it's a great compromise as the vast majority of people won't see colour in a G and so long as it's eye clean, an SI stone brings the price down for you.

Personally I would prefer a bigger stone over a D-F stone (and I love coloured sparkles and lower colours) but a G is a safe bet if you don't know how the recipient feels about colour precisely.

I started with a 4.25 sized finger and a 1.5ct G SI1 radiant which I haloed and that was perfect for me as an engagement ring.

And I love the AVR too, but it's a specific look. Some people prefer modern cut stones and unless she has expressed a preference for vintage...

Great Advice Miss Kitty! Yeh she doesnt like Halos but a 1.63ct will be a great size for now I think... we can always upgrade to a 2.2-2.3ct in the future (2+years) if need be!

Sorry, Cassius, I missed your later question! Truly, I love BOTH vendors! I have diamonds from both and they are top cut quality.

The main advantage of buying from one of them is that if you ever want to upgrade, they have great policies. You get everything you paid on the first stone applied toward the price of the new diamond. It can cost any amount more.

Since you are concerned about color, I was thinking G might be a good option for you. I prefer VS stones myself, but sometimes you can find clean SI1's with inclusions you cannot see with your eyes. You just have to ask about that.
