Hi there pricescopers,

I was just wondering if some of your rock jockies could give this little girl some helpful advice.

I have been proposed to and I do love my ring. However, my fiance did not know about pricescope and he purchased his ring from a B&M shop.

We have the ability to "upgrade" the center diamond (cause I adore my Simon G. setting). The purchase price was great, but I would love to know what your thoughts are on the specs as graded by EGL:

Shape: Round Brilliant
Carat: 1.51
Color: H (totally white to me)
Clarity: VS2
Measurements: 7.3x7.26x4.58 mm
total depth: 62.9%
table width: 55%
crown height 16%
pavillion depth 43%
girdle thickness: Medium, faceted
polish: very good
symmetry: very good
flourescence: none
other: 8 Hearts and 8 Arrows and is a Tolkowsky Ideal Cut

The diamond was about $6000 USD

Thank you all, and I love reading everyone elses posts.

I''ll some pics once we do our engagement photos.

Did the grading report says which EGL lab graded this stone?

Number wise, looks promising. Just the depth is slightly large making the stone's diameter slightly smaller than it's class weight. Ideally, should be about 7.4mm, so short by 0.1mm, so not that bad. :)

You should have an independent appraiser in your area check the stone out. If it checks out, it looks like a great deal.

Are you saying the cost to upgrade is $6,000 or the total cost is $6,000? I thought 1.5 H VS2 H&A went for $13K at the very least...

I''m actually not sure how much the diamond was exactly. He got the diamond, the semi-mount, and wedding band for about 11K. He told my fiance they sold the diamond at cost.

EGL stones often appraise independently at a lower color and/or clarity. So it might be an I or J SI1 by GIA standards. That is why it is a good idea to have an EGL stone independently appraised.

I would want a 1.5 ct. stone to have the 7.4mm diameter. And I''d insist on a GIA Excellent cut or AGS Ideal cut.

Hi Meens

The diamond is a bit deep which can make it look a bit small for the weight but it looks like a nice diamond nevertheless. As it is your proposal diamond and you love it thats the main thing, I imagine its a lovely rock! Yes you could do better for cut quality and maybe look at an AGS or GIA graded diamond but in that case you would have to increase the budget to get a similar size, so its up to your personal preferences.

Congrats on your engagement!!!
