Hey All! new to the site. Wanted some insight on this diamond:

http://www.jamesallen.com/#!/loose-diamonds/Princess-cut/1.50-carat-E-color-VS2-clarity-sku-166363

Here is what im interested in:

1. So if spread=(LxW) for the princess, then does this diamond have a large spread for its carat size/cut? if so, what carat weight does it compare to, on average?
2. I want to make sure i'm not compromising on another important aspect to achieve the potentially bigger spread (ex too shallow)
3. What do you guys think of all the Light Performance factors and facets?
4. Good bang for the buck with the Pricescope (roughly $300) and wire transfer (1.5%) discount?

Any expert opinions would be appreciated!

All the best
Todd

I love the proportions! I love the depth (not too deep) and the table size is beautiful and I love the facet pattern! You did a great job!! The only way to get something bigger would be to drop the color. If you want something white though, I really like what you have.

Request ASET.

Ditto Julie. The stone looks spready to me (although a bit off-square). It doesn't appear to be my favorite faceting pattern - seems too splintery out around the edges - but it may be a good performer. The ASET will tell us more, including whether it has the edge-to-edge light reflection that will make it appear larger.

I requested an ASET image, so we will see what that shows. As far as the diamond not being exactly square, it's not something I'm going to worry about. Anything with a L/W ratio under 1.05 is fine with me. This one is 1.02. I don't want to knit pick too much because I don't have a lot of time to search.

The numbers look fine but I look forward to seeing the ASET which will really tell us how it performs. I think the facet pattern is pretty and I doubt irl your eyes will tell its got a 1.02 ratio

Oh, I forgot to address bang for buck. I can't see the price, but JA usually has the lowest prices among the vendors I like to recommend. The diamond isn't branded, so that helps. It's also GIA certified, which I believe carries a lower premium than AGS.

Other ways you could maximize your bang for buck without compromising the look of the diamond would be:
-Choose an eye-clean SI1 rather than VS2
-Look for G-H clarity rather than E-F (most people won't know once it's set)
-Shoot for a carat weight just under a "round" number like 1.5; for example, 1.48 or so. This is tough because most diamonds are cut to hit those magic numbers.
