Hi Everyone,

I am new to Pricescope and have been lurking for a couple of weeks. My husband and I have decided that now is a good time to upgrade my wedding ring. We have been married for 18 years. We purchased a diamond 2 weeks ago...before I found this site. I have two weeks left in the refund period and would love to get others opinions on whether or not this diamond was an "excellent buy." This site has been very helpful and I wish I had found it earlier in the buying process.

This is what I am looking for in a diamond...1) sparkle and fire. I want it to get noticed :P 2) excellent cut, among the best 3) minimal inclusions...I have "eagle eyes" I have studied this diamond and I cannot see the tiny clouds 4) Very good color and a decent carat weight. I will sacrifice size for quality but dont want to put money in things that the naked eye wont notice or appreciate.

I have attached the GIA report and GCAL report. I have since looked at other websites and am finding comparable diamonds to be much more expensive. We paid $14,700. This is leading me to wonder if I got a good deal or am I missing something??? Is there something important that I didn't consider in the buying process? I purchased the diamond May 7 and the GCAL report is dated April 4 so I know it wasnt in inventory for long. We will proabably never upgrade the diamond again so I want to be certain about the quality. Just dont want regrets in the future over a large purchase.

I have attached the GIA Certificate, GCAL Report, and a diamond photo...hopefully, if I did it correct. Below are the numbers.

Thanks for your help!

I ran the numbers in the HCA and got 1.8 back, so it's within TIC proportions. It scored an excellent in light return and very good in the other three categories (fire, scintillation, spread). If I was searching for this stone online and I got this score, I would investigate it further with some imaging (IS, ASET) and see how they come back (is it returning most of the light, symmetrical?). Could you find an appraiser by you that can provide you with the imaging? I know you have that GCAL report, but I haven't read up on enough of those to know how reliable the report is. I saw the picture of the stone in the report; what do you think of it?

Thank you for your input. I'm not sure what I think about the GCAL photo of the diamond. It is 10x magnification and I don't know enough about diamonds to know what it is supposed to look like. When I bought the diamond, I liked the insurance of the GCAL report indicating excellent symmetry and brilliance. However, now that I found this forum I read a lot about IS and ASET images. Not sure if the GCAL measures up??? I like your idea of finding someone near me to run those tests and will look into it. The jeweler that I bought my setting from commented that it was an excellent diamond. I just don't want to realize later that it could have better fire/brilliance and is lacking.

Where did you get it from - online? Is it a Blue Nile signature stone?

I don't see anything to worry about w/ the stone lacking anything and price looks about what I'd expect for a BN signature w/ those stats. If you like it I'd say stop worrying and just enjoy it ::) Looks nice in the temp too.

Numbers look great and the stone looks great! And as Yssie said, Blue Nile's prices are in line with what you'd expect to pay online for a diamond like that. So you did very well in picking out a nicely cut stone! :appl:

I agree! Looks like a keeper! =)

Thanks for taking a look. I appreciate your opinions. I feel more at ease now :wink2:

I think it is a wonderful stone. I would keep it and wear it proudly! Good job! :appl:
