Hey All,

I am shopping for an engagement ring on James Allen. Here are my loose diamond specs:
1.30 - 1.40 carat
Ideal or above cut
$8,000 - $10,500 price
Color I or above
Clarity VS2 or above
Round shape only

I plan on getting a platinum setting with side tapered diamond baguettes:

I tried my best to search for diamonds within my budget and found these:
1. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.32-carat-i-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-45107
- price $8,840

2. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.30-carat-h-color-vs2-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-22857
- price $9,980

3. http://www.jamesallen.com/loose-diamonds/round-cut/1.31-carat-h-color-vs1-clarity-excellent-cut-sku-137845
- price $10,560

What are your thoughts, opinions, advice on my plan so far? Do you think a round color I diamond is a good idea (the other two are color H)?

Thanks!

Out of the one's you posted I like the 1.31 the best...it has the best numbers.

This, I love love love the arrows on this...It's more a vintage (slightly) cut, and it's a bit more than your budget, but it's also noticeably bigger. JA offers PS members a 1-5% discount (not including a wire discount), so that may make it within your budget?

you could also ask about this one:

Did you request ideal scope images? You should on the ones you're interested in.

Thanks 04diamond<3!

Great tip - I'll ask for the ideal scope images now.

I found another one within budget with a great carat size:

1.40 Carat I-VS1 Excellent Cut Round Diamond

Do you recommend H or I color diamonds for the round shape?

That's the last one I posted....but you could do an I color. When you put it on hold ask to speak to the gemologist and ask for an honest opinion on the color. JA is good about being honest.

Honestly, most people will not see any difference between an H and an I on well cut stones when viewed from the top of the stone. Some can, but most can not.
